Note from Jean

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  This week is going to be an exciting one.  Traci and I have a number of speaking engagements and it is so fun to be able to share the message of wellness!  And I believe my new book will be available for order. Yes, you read it right, my new book!  My newest title in my life is going to be published author!!!  Can you believe it.

The book is titled "52 Tips To Be Healthy", and it features 52 small changes, one per week, to wellness.  This book is going to be a great gift for the friends and relatives that need a nudge.  I have given you some excerpts below.

On Tuesday, join us for our Leesburg meeting, I know it is Valentines Day but what could be more loving for your mate than learning how to keep yourself healthy??  The details are below.

Be Well,

52 Tips To Be Healthy
Week 21

By Jean Sumner

Schedule your semi-annual dentist appointment.  Studies have linked poor oral health with a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes.  To protect your oral health, resolve to practice good oral hygiene every day. For example:

  •     Brush your teeth at least twice a day
  •     Use toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush that fits your mouth comfortably
  •     Consider using an electric or battery-operated toothbrush
  •     Hold your toothbrush at a slight angle against your teeth and brush with short back-and-forth motions
  •     Remember to brush the inside and chewing surfaces of your teeth
  •     Keep your tooth brush clean
  •     Always rinse your toothbrush with water after brushing
  •     Store your toothbrush in an upright position
  •     Don't  cover toothbrushes or store them in closed containers
  •     Replace your toothbrush every three to four months.
  •     Floss daily.
  •     Eat a healthy diet and limit between-meal snacks
  •     Quit smoking since it increases your risk for gum disease
There is a right way to brush and floss your teeth every day:
    1.    Gently brush your teeth on all sides with a soft-bristle brush and toothpaste.
    2.    Use small circular motions and short back-and-forth strokes.
    3.    Take the time to brush carefully and gently along the gum line.
    4.    Lightly brush your tongue to help keep your mouth clean.
    5.    You cannot reach the tight spaces between your teeth or under your gum line with a toothbrush. That is why daily flossing is important.
