Hey it's Ty Cohen here and I just got back from speaking at a
local music industry workshop, where I heard one of the speakers
who went before me say something pretty interesting.
Take notes, because what he said could change your life...
He said "The Difference between the poor and the rich, when it comes
to this music stuff is that most "Artist" are poor while most
"Label" owners are rich, and it's the artist who helped to *Make*
them rich!"
This is something that I have always known and in fact have always
injected into my teachings, by getting artist to see how very
important it is for them to "Own" their own record labels.
I mean think about it, lets take two individuals, one works for
a company and the other one OWNS the company...
You can Never get rich working for someone else, in fact you'll
always make that person rich, richer and the richest of everyone who
works for the company, there are no ifs ands or buts about it, it is fact!
Now I want you to think about something else... Think of
your top 5 favorite or most admired artist and I can almost guarantee
you that the richest one out of those five either owns his/her label
or has a major stake in it.
As a matter of fact, love him or hate him, Jay Z, made 200 MILLION
dollars last year (while other artist, his peers made less then $20,000)
How could Jay do so much better? Well there are several reasons, but
one is simply, because he has a major stake in his label and his career.
Now ask yourself... And be Honest.... Would you rather "Settle" for being
just a worker bee .... Or would you rather be the owner, aka the Boss, aka
the CEO?
If you want to be a boss, one who has his / her own record label...
Excuse me, one who owns a label that makes money :)

But just know that I'm warning you, not everyone is mentally ready
or prepared to be the boss, there are a few people who would prefer
to just be a worker, those are the weaker people of the bunch.
I'm off, enjoy your weekend, I'm A boss so I know I'll enjoy mine,
Its time for me to go and eat some of the finest Steak and Lobster
money can buy :)

excuses, excuses are for the lame, those who use words like "Can't",
