FACTOR #9: THYROID SECRETION OUTPUT Those who have low thyroid gland secretion usually have a metabolic rate as low as 50% to 60% of normal. These Hypothyroid Sufferers usually feel colder than others all the time. ("Hypo" means "below.") A hypothryroid person eating a diet that is relatively lower in protein than The SAD Diet may feel even colder after eating than a hypothyroid person on The High Protein, SAD Diet. FACTOR #10: SIMPLE MALNUTRITION
MALNUTRITION also causes a decrease in metabolism and, therefore, in temperature. Many individuals on live-foods do not eat enough protein in the form of nuts and seeds. Or they do not eat enough of the full range of other nutrients needed for Superlative Health. By the time most people become Hygienists, they have lived a life of... "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!" Consequently, their digestive capacity is often greatly impaired. Upon becoming Hygienists, they may eat a lot of live-foods; but they just don't handle them well; or they may eat very little because they bloat and have digestive problems. These people are malnourished, not necessarily because of the quality of the food they eat, but because of impaired digestion. Regardless, they are, in reality, malnourished; and as a result, their metabolic rate can be decreased by as much as 20% to 30%. Such malnourished individuals, in the midst of plenty to eat and eating plenty, will also typically complain of feeling cold.
It is not enough to just follow the advice of raw food recipe writers who tell you: "EAT RAW! EAT LIVE-FOODS!" That is where the scientific and systematic Natural Hygiene teachings amassed since 1832 and recent raw food recipe writers are 2 entirely different schools of learning. Correct Natural Hygiene teachings lead to superlative nutrition and not to possible malnutrition. Over the years, We 3 Texas Doctors have had to counsel many Health Seekers who have followed the raw recipes out of their malnutrition and into health. FACTOR #11: HORMONES
Added to this long list of factors that can affect your feeling of warmth or chilliness on The Live-Food Diet are other hormones not previously mentioned. For example, male sex hormones increase the BMR ("basal metabolic rate") more than the female sex hormones. Growth hormone increases metabolism because of its effect on the body cells.
FACTOR #12: CLIMATE
Climate can also affect metabolism tremendously and, consequently, heat production. Metabolism is 10% to 20% lower in tropical regions for the average individual than in Arctic regions. And more people living in cold regions develop hyperthyroidism than those living in warm climates. ("Hyper" means "above" or, in this case, "overly active.")
FACTOR #13: SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF TEMPERATURE & METABOLISM, IN CASES OF DEATH & STARVATION
NOT EXACTLY AN APPROPRIATE TOPIC FOR THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS... BUT TO BE THOROUGH, WE NEED TO COVER FACTOR #13. Although not the case of one who is simply cold after eating, the following is, nevertheless, beneficial knowledge regarding temperature and metabolism. I am adding the following information in the case of near death and fasting to the starvation stage in order to fully and completely answer the question. In the final stages of many diseases, the impaired nutrition to all the tissues (inanition) will cause a "pre-mortem decrease" in the metabolic rate. The body temperature will fall greatly just before death. This same thing happens in cases of fasting into the starvation stage, which we certainly do not recommend, but which some misguided persons have been led to do. by incompetent health educators. (These are the kinds of cases that give a"lternative health care" a bad name!) In both circumstances, a pre-mortem decrease in metabolic rate occurs; and the temperature can fall to as low as 94 degrees Fahrenheit. If the person is fasting into the starvation stage, he can break the fast, even at this stage and recover completely if he is kept warm. But for the one whose pathological condition is great, in spite of eating, the temperature remains low and stays there until death.
THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO "TO HIRE THE DOCTOR WITHIN"
Metaphorically speaking, we all have been provided "Doctors Within" our bodies who can be readily called upon to do the healing and maintenance necessary to keep us in Superlative Health! But these doctors cannot be properly reached and, therefore, cannot go to work for us unless we have dialed the right "area code" and "number"! "The right area code" is to remove the causes of disease. "The right number" is to provide The Conditions for Health which are The 10 Energy Enhancers. Get these 2 parts of the call right, and our "Doctors Within" arrive and go to work in full force, overseeing rapid revitalization, detoxification, repair, renewal, and rejuvenation. Of course, these "Doctors Within" do have a "skeleton crew" on work at all times, just keeping us alive, even when we disobey all The Laws of Life and practice all The Energy Robbers. But when we deliberately set about to remove the causes of disease and provide The Conditions for Health, this "skeleton crew" takes a vacation and "The Doctors Within" respond to your call and go to work mightily to bring about Superlative Health as an everyday experience in every cell in your body!
Metaphors only go so far. So let me speak plainly. Actually, much can be done at home and on your own without direct Hygienic doctor supervision for most of you Health Seekers who complain of the coldness of The Live-Food Diet. Each person who complains that he or she cannot stay warm on raw foods is different. Each has his or her own "biochemical individuality." Therefore, it is wise to try to find the cause. Is it merely emotional -- that The Health Seeker misses the warm, cooked food fix? Or is The Health Seeker taking The Descent into Disease and has a serious, on-going pathology that needs correction?

***Use a hot water bottle, but try to avoid the electric blanket.
***Take a warm sunbath. This brings blood to the vessels of the skin and warms you up! If you are feeling cold after an uncooked meal, and if the sun is shining, take a sunbath! Better yet, picnic in the sun! A few minutes spent sitting or lying in the sun can warm you up for the entire day! In the process, you chalk up all the other benefits of a sensible sunbath, as well!
***Secure Energy Enhancer #4: Adequate Rest & Sleep. A daily nap will help tremendously.

***If you cannot fast at this
time, eat only those live-foods which you feel you handle best and eat them correctly. This

do better if you first grind the nuts and seeds you take -- both
strategies to conserve Nerve Energy and thus keep you warmer. And
remember, take the fruits and vegetables you are going to eat out of the
refrigerator at least an hour before eating. You may put whole fruits
in warm water to take out the chill if you have forgotten to take them
out earlier. Eat your proteins early in the day. Observe Proper Food
Combining Guidelines. Chew your foods well. And take your meals only in a
state of Emotional Balance.

In time, with normal physiological functioning fully restored, you will have warm hands and toes and feel just right all over on The Live-Food Diet! Until then, put on an extra sweater, take an extra walk, and throw another log on the fire!
