Do you need to blog Sent Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Remember when Blogging was really "Hot", now it's "Social media",
but wait, it's "Blogging" again now with "Mobile content." As a
copywriter who sells their own services, it's important you know
what clients may be hearing. However, do you really need to blog?

One copywriter and information marketing expert, Marcia Yudkin says
you don't -- especially if you want to be successful as a freelance
copywriter. I'll share a link to her story shortly.

The single point I want to make is, you should do what works best
for your personality and schedule. For me, I blog and deliver this
newsletter as I can but spend most of my time with clients. Often
in a draft format.

That means, I don't spend the hours I would on a client assignment
proofing, re-reading, and editing. I don't use editors like I
would with paid word, because blogging is sideline to my marketing
and copywriting business.

Frankly, I like interacting with readers and find publishing
rewarding in non-monetary ways!

Some may say that the draft, conversational nature of my blogs and
newsletters "poorly reflects the quality of my work", others may
say it's "authentic and honest." Don't care either way because
many of the clients are too busy making money with their business
than reading blogs (or even newsletters.)

While you may get clients through your blog, newsletter, social
media, and more than 100 other channels; it's my objective to
profitably get sales into their business so quickly they won't have
time to do these things themselves. When you write copy that
sells, you ought to be selling!

Do you need to be blogging? Marcia Yudkin does it her way, a way
that I find works for me too. Her story about "Why you don't need
to blog" is at
