More Sales in Two Steps Sent Tuesday, January 26, 2010 View as plaintext

Most copywriting courses talk about creating individual marketing pieces, often neglecting the full campaign. In this edition you'll discover a simple way to get more sales in just two steps.

First, you'll need a sales letter. If you're not already using sales letters to offer your solutions then you're missing out on a powerful silent sales person. Let's assume you at least have one sales letter.

What's one of the determining factors that makes a huge difference in your sales letter selling? Not to beat around the bush, because your letter doesn't sell, in fact, it's the reader who is buying, that would make your reader the most important.

Without a reader, qualified in every way to involve themselves with your offer, the best written letters have no value. If a reader is one of the keys to your sales success, then how can you get more readers equally qualified as those who bought?

That's where two step marketing comes into place. While most have you focus on writing incredible sales letters (which is important) I'll show you how to deconstruct your letter to get more readers. With your best sales letter in hand, let's get started.

While reading your sales letter out loud into an audio recorder, think about these questions. If you want maximum results, then more than read your letter, perform it as if you were standing right in front of your target customer.

  1. What reader is most moved by the points of this letter? Who has bought after reading this letter and where did they come from?
  2. What problems are solved by this letter? What problems are avoided by doing what this letter suggests?
  3. What questions does this letter answer, and by answering those questions, what does this letter do for the reader?

Starting with your sales letter you are looking to create influencing factors. If your sales letter was a sales landing page then this would be discovering more ways to send traffic. In print, it's more lists that are likely to have buyers on them.

The problem is, sending the whole letter to your prospect is expensive. It might be just as expensive to try to find them on-line, but a low cost solution is called two step marketing.

Now that you've read and recorded your sales letter, you'll listen to it while writing answers from the questions above. What you write down isn't describing the sales letter, instead noting why someone would want to read it.

You've probably figured it out by now that what you're really doing is reverse engineering your sales letter into a lead generation piece. Reading the letter out loud then listening to it gives you familiarization with every word.

The lead generation piece reduces the number of people on the original list, grabs the attention of someone on a web site, or can be sent directly at a lower cost. Because this lesson is a primer for two step marketing, you'll find tips on your lead generation piece in another edition.

Here are some of the benefits of two step marketing:

  • Quickly extract from larger lists an interested group of buyers curiosity about your larger offer, allowing you to focus your marketing message.
  • Reduces the cost of testing multiple lead sources, channels, or messages leading to the same offer.
  • Put your message in front of individuals interested in your message, so you're only paying to make offers to those who requested it.

The key to this whole lesson is that the tools you already use to make sales can be made more powerful putting it in front of interested buyers. It's expensive to try to reach everyone, but a smaller targeted piece can cultivate interest that narrows down your list to those most ready to buy.

You use the same measures of total cost verse sales created to know what works best, but with two step marketing you have more choices and a more cost effective means of reaching more buyers. Because you're a member, fax the first and last page of your sales letter for a complementary lead generation sample in response to help you get started.
