I have been keeping the Action Pack blog updated with our trip -- you can follow along if you like -- we have been surfing, cooking over the camp fire and doing chores; we have been writing, fishing, and exploring too. We are about to leave the southern end of Australia and travel along the West coast -- I feel like another adventure is about to begin.
For now some kid friendly craft and food and creative links.

Campfire cooking
Sent Tuesday, April 9, 2013
Action Pack » Newsletter
We have been spent the last few weeks able to have a campfire and we have been loving the freedom (and restrictions) of cooking over a campfire. BBQ and roast chicken and bread have all made it onto the menu.
If you get a chance to light a backyard fire, or go camping for a weekend -- here are some recipes to try:
Sheepherders breakfast
Tin foil dinners
Upside down potato and onion tart
Skillet fried fish
Dutch oven pie
And don't forget we are still […]

My travels continue. We are now in Western Australia, quite far from home. We are camping on the Rainbow coast -- such a pretty name -- it is raining though and the forecast is rain for the next week and who knows how long after that. But we still plan on swimming today! We are in town visiting the library and the laundromat and then will head back to our tent to bunker down and snuggle up -- reading our books and making some twig and moss houses.
I wanted […]

Homeschool update

Action Pack » Newsletter
Homeschool has been hold while we pack up camp each day and investigate new spots traveling further west around the coastline. We have met some other on-the-road families who have been questioning the advice given them by their school and have been struggling with 3-4 hours a day of homeschool. It's too much and the parents end up doing the teacher set projects anyway! What is the point?
We on the other hand are taking a more organic approach -- some […]

Very excited to be able to say that the first issue of Action Pack for 2013 is not far away. Some tweaking, some editing, some fact checking and we are nearly there.
It has been a bit of an adventure putting this first issue of the year together. I am on the road, taking my Internet where I can get it -- libraries are super!
This issue has a range of Water themed crafts, science, activities and projects contributed by some amazingly talented folks. I'll […]

Camping tricks

Are you into camping? -- have you explored your local national parks for weekenders or even day trips? We are now in an area that we have not explored before and we are enjoying new coastlines, new water, new beaches, new fish to catch and local native plants to identify. We are thinking up new travel games to play while driving (name as many birds as you can -- name animals beginning with a certain letter), and enjoying practicing our body surfing in the […]

From the road

Action Pack » Newsletter
This is my first newsletter from the road. And in fact I am literally sitting in my car on the side of the road where I have a patch of internet connectivity. I have been walking to the beach to check emails, as our campsite seems to be in a black hole, however I didn't really fancy taking my laptop down to the sand. So here I am looking out at the great open road, koala's are here and there, and I am trying my best to get into relaxation mode.
You can […]
