Many homeowners in Australia are expected to benefit greatly from the
government’s Energy Efficiency Homes Package. The $3.9
billion package
is part of the $42 billion Nation Building and Jobs Plan that aims to
generate more jobs in the fields of manufacturing, distribution and
installation of ceiling insulation and solar hot water systems.
Covered under the solar hot water rebate program are homeowners,
landlords or tenants who replace their electric storage hot water
systems with the solar or heat pump units and only their main
residence. Those eligible can enjoy up to a $1,600 rebate.
The goal of using solar hot water systems is to cut greenhouse gas
emissions. It has been confirmed that in Australia, water heating is a
major source of greenhouse gas emissions and utilizes approximately 28
percent of energy in a single home.
The solar hot water system plays a key role as it is not only
environment friendly but it also provides families with big savings on
their yearly electricity bills ranging from $300 to $700. The
Australian government recognizes the benefits of using renewable energy
and is strongly committed to provide incentives to homeowners who adopt
the eco-friendly systems.
Homeowners can only choose one of either the solar hot water program or
home insulation program to avail of the $1,600 rebate. The
reimbursement will be given only after installation. To be
eligible for the hot water rebate, homeowners, landlords or tenants
need to install a solar or heat pump hot water system with the
assistance of a qualified and licensed electrician or plumber.
Those who can apply for rebates now are homeowners who have installed
solar hot water systems on or after February 3, 2009 until June 30,
2009. Submission of applications is allowed within six months after the
installation. The application form must be signed by the installer to
certify that your unit is new and a hot water system. The installer is
also required to give other technical and installation details.

Question
1
What
has been your biggest challenge in business and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge was starting a new company and getting the name
and brand into the market place. I used my networking and lead
generation skills to get the business out there and found one of the
best and most effective ways was to do joint projects with other
businesses eg: a training company would put on an event and I would
coordinate and facilitate the event management component.
Question
2
If
you had to start your business again from scratch, what would you do
differently?
Make a 48 hour clock … The only thing I would do differently
would be
to market more aggressively rather than rely on word of mouth or
referrals.
Question
3
Who
do you admire and why?
I admire my mum she’s my super hero, at the age of 17 she had
the guts,
strength and determination to leave her family and her home, traverse
the ocean and come to a strange land where she didn’t
understand the
language or the culture, to start a new life with my
dad...I’m glad she
passed those qualities on to me.
Question
4
It
takes a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in
business. What keeps you motivated?
I love seeing things evolve from just an idea into a
reality…In my
industry it’s all about the planning and the detail and
finally the
delivery of the finished product.. for me it’s the
satisfaction of a
job well done that keeps me going in for more.
Question
5
What
are your 3 biggest success tips?
1. Work to an achievable plan and break
it up into steps so that you realize your business goals.
2. Be clear about what you want to
achieve for yourself and your business and get right in there to
accomplish it. Obstacles are just speed humps to your success.
3. Possess a “whatever it
takes”
attitude… you will win peoples trust and trust is vital
especially in
the industry I am in.
