Question
2
If
you had to start your business again from scratch, what would you do
differently?
Not have just had my second child (7 weeks in) when I started the
business!!!
Question
3
Who
do you admire and why?
I admire anyone who is passionate and successful at what they do. I
think passion is infectious. I admire all the amazing parents of the
world who juggle parenting with successful careers and social lives. I
admire those with creative flair be that in the musical world, art,
theatre, the written word. I admire business people who have started
from scratch and ended up as multi-millionaires. But no one in
particular. There is beauty and something worth admiring in everyone.
Question
4
It
takes a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in business.
What keeps
you motivated?
I have
always been a fairly self-motivated person, perhaps because of
my strong background in sport (I was an age group rep in water polo and
won regional and national medals in swimming and surf lifesaving). I
guess what makes me jump out of bed every day is that I love what I do
and I want to do well both for myself and my family. It’s all
about
lifestyle for me. If my business is more successful and I manage it
well then I have more money to do what I want, when I want and more
time to spend with my family. I love the flexibility of being my own
boss.

What
are your 3 biggest success tips?
1. Document everything you do so you
only have to do it once! Place your documented procedures, log ins,
templates, contact details, systems etc on a wiki (I
use www.pbwiki.com) so your staff and you can log in any time,
anywhere to access key information. It’s also a great backup
system.
2. Chunk your time – Create a
weekly
schedule and allocate time for every aspect of your life it is
important to you to maintain. Include everything from time with your
partner to time with your kids, fitness time, beauty/social/leisure
time and work time. Within your working hours, chunk your time down
into areas of your business you need to work on i.e. Tue mornings 9am
–
12pm accounts. Friday afternoon 12:30 – 4:30pm business
development/research. Make all your phone calls in one hit, then
allocate time to emails so you’re not bouncing around on time
wasting
tasks.
3. Regularly review your position and
work out what’s working and what’s not. Look at
your financials, your
competitors, plan and then move forward again. It may be hard to
dedicate time to working ‘on your business’ but
it’s essential!
