How is your garden coming this spring? The volatile weather patterns of this past March have many of us wondering when is a good time to get outside and start digging in the dirt. For an avid gardener the question might be when is it not a good time to get out and dig in the dirt! However and whenever you choose to start the planting season there is still sufficient time to get going. And we can all use
some pointers from experts.
This month John Pease and John Blatnick from Turboganic My Garden will be presenting our Your Health Now Presentation. John and John both have extensive backgrounds in plant and soil science They will be exploring the joys and basics of gardening.
Be prepared to learn about some “old school” how-to gardening techniques that can:
- Find out what your soil composition needs to balance
without a lab test.
- Reduce the effects of the blistering summer sun,
- How to determine the best watering cycles for your soil type and enviro
conditions,
- Increase the level of “pro-biotics” in your soil,
- Improve the odds of attracting the essential pollinators,
- Show you how to accelerate compost decomposition while reducing weeds.
- Neutralize the effects of previous exposure to toxic garden sprays.
- And much more, depending upon levels of interest and permissible time…
A recent scientific study suggested active gardeners live longer, have lower levels of stress, and experience an enhanced immune system. It’s never too late to
start enhancing your garden, or improving your health!
Simple, environmentally safe, and effective gardening methods will be presented to maximize growth, pest control, and harvest while preparing for another expected harsh, hotter-than-usual summer. It doesn’t matter if you are a master
gardener, have never picked up a shovel, or think you will kill anything green that you lay your hands on. Any and all skill levels (or none other than a willingness to learn) are welcome.
If you have specific problems and questions, bring them on! We will do our very best. Depending
on the response, Alpine Clinic may choose to expand this class to a summer series, including an onsite garden visit.
Lastly, feel free to bring a representational sample of your grow area, meaning a blend within the top six inches of your top soil (approx. ½ pound in a plastic bag screened for rocks
and weeds), in addition to a one quart clear glass jar and lid.
Hope to see many of you there. It will be educational, practical, and most important… FUN
