blog posts on the web that you'd like to recommend?
How about having *your* visitors do the same for you?
You can already do that with the Facebook Like button.
But what if there was a Google equivalent of Like?
Well now there is.
Just like Facebook has the Like button, Google now
has the +1 button.
It's part of the looming battle for adding social media
relevance to search results.
And Google just dropped their gloves in the fight,
and opened it up for you to add to your site.
You can see it on my home page and all my listings on
http://www.affiliate-software-review.com
If you're logged into your Google account, try it out
on my site - see home page near the bottom of the screen
and click the +1 button.
If you want to discover more and see how to get your
own +1 for your site, read their blogpost here
Add it to your site, let me know, and I'll +1 you back.

I hope you liked... I mean +1'd this :)

Cheers,
Peter
PS Thanks to one of my affiliate industry colleagues
Evgenii 'Geno' Prussakov and also Viktor Zeman of

Hi there - I promised to let you know about my new
lead gen business, but it's going to be next week.
The long weekend in the US means crazy travelling and
shopping for lots of people, so I'll send out my tiny
article next week.
It will explain a lot of things about lead gen for you,
and how it fits in w/ affiliate marketing.
So keep an eye out for an email from me next week w/ lead gen
in the title.
In the meantime if you're in the US then have a great US Thanksgiving and Black
Friday sales.
Heck, even here in Canada we now have Black Friday Price Matching
deals where some Canadian stores e.g Sears are offering to match any US
advertised price on certain items.
So it's nuts here too.
And lead gen will have to wait :)

Talk to you soon,
Peter

Hey if you have a shopping site this might interest you esp. before the
upcoming shopping season.

Google just announced support (US only to start) for
including rich snippets in their search engine.
To see an example check out this blog post on Search
Engine Land - thanks to Matt McGee for pointing this out.

Hi there,
Are you planning to go to Affiliate Summit in Vegas in
Jan 2011?
The early bird pricing ends October 15, 2010. You can still catch
this deal thru Oct 15, but after that date the pricing will go
up.
I'll be there, so if you are planning to go let me know and
I'll try arrange a meetup of ASR subscribers - once you
sign up shoot me an email and I'll connect with you on
the ASW social media network.

My objectives for Affiliate Summit West (ASW11) are:
- networking
- take in some seminars
- hunt down and recruit some big affiliates for my Canadian
Mortage Lead biz (more on that in next email)
- play poker
- interview some cool merchants, affiliates, and industry
players so I can pass on some great tips for you re
affiliate marketing from a merchant point of view
Btw the Meet Market (tons of tables and packed room for
networking) has already sold out, and the venue is at the
Wynn so it will be huge - the biggest affiliate summit ever.
The best part of ASW is that you can sneak beers into the seminars!

Here's the link for more details on Affiliate Summit and to
grab your passes today.

Hi there,
I met Andy Jenkins over 6 years ago when I attended my
first internet marketing conference in Chicago.
At the time he was making a killing hand over fist with his
online sword and wall tapestry sites. He was also partnering with
Brad Fallon in a hot SEO course called Stomping the Search Engines.
Since then, Andy has gone on to team up with Brad on Stompernet,
and recently launched the successful Video Boss course re
online video marketing.
He's even worked on the Blair Witch project movie - the video
link below was also produced by Andy...
Anyway the point is that Andy knows about online marketing.
...and I've kept my eye on him.
He's now focused on delivering a better mousetrap for
information marketers. It's focused on product launches
and community building during and after the launch.
If you're planning to launch something new in the near future,
or even just add a new information product or service to your
current offerings, then check out this video below:

==> http://www.peterkoning.com/kajabivideo
Look, I know we're all a little pooped out from product launches,
and I really try to screen them out for you. Have I mailed a promo
in the last few weeks or even months? No.
I like what I see in this product so far - it's not classic
product launch formula stuff but it's not all social n/w
touchy feely woowoo either.
It's internet marketing + community + removing lots of
technical hassles in integrating bits and pieces of internet
marketing stuff so you make more.

Enough, just watch the free vid :)

you lately.
Fact is, I've been on the road taking our son
to some tennis tournaments - he made it to the doubles final
of a USTA u16 tournament in Wenatchee WA state a couple weeks ago.
I've been taking the laptop w/ me but there's been little time
to focus long enough to publish content, although that's one
of my most enjoyable activities.

But now I'm back in the saddle and I wanted to share something
of value w/ you...
I originally came across this concept at a recent Affiliate
Summit, when talking to affiliates who do email marketing.
At first I skipped this as a zero sum game but it's actually
the opposite - a win/win.
The other day I recently received this email from another marketer,
and there's an important lesson in the concept, for anyone
that has an email list.
Below is the email w/ his contact info removed for privacy,
and then my brief analysis:

Subject: Ad Swap With Me?

Hey Peter,
I'm looking for ad swap partners. I have over
100,000 subscribers.
If you would like to set something up, please
email me at: [removed]
Be sure to include your availability and your
total number of subscribers when you reply.

List size doesn't matter. I have sub lists soI will mail around the same number as you.
Let's make some money!
Jeff

Analysis

=======
With classic non-affiliate marketing, it's hard to measure
who benefits and usually there is one winner and one loser, because
there are no commissions involved for helping the other guy with
his sales.

But affiliate marketing changes everything...
With affiliate marketing, this is a win/win,
and it's best illustrated with an example:
1) I sign up as an affiliate for Jeff's product
2) I mail 5000 subscribers and generate $6k in sales for Jeff
3) Jeff does the same with a product of mine and generates $2k
in sales for me

So now I sit there wondering if it was my product that didn't convert, or
maybe Jeff's list was not so responsive. Not sure... :(
And maybe Jeff is feeling that he should pay me $2k so that we both are
more equal in earnings with $4k each.
Win/Lose or Lose/Win seem to be the only options here, right?
Wrong!
Remember this is all about affiliate marketing - not simply selling
each other's product.
This is still a win/win because Jeff and I BOTH make sales
AND commission - not from each other's wallet but from the
buyers on the email lists.
And we both earn based on the results of how our products perform
with someone else's subscribers, and how our subscribers value
someone else's product.
i.e. Assuming 25% commission in this example, here's what is
truly earned:
From my email marketing, Jeff makes $6k in sales =
$4500 net gross revenue for Jeff
+
$1500 commissions earned for me
From Jeff's mailing, I make $2k in sales =
$500 commissions for Jeff
+
$1500 net gross revenue for me.
Sure we exchange some commission payments but the bottom line is:
Jeff makes: $4500 + $500 = $5k
I make: $1500 + $1500 = $3k
Because the $8k comes from the buyers, not from Jeff and

myself, we both end up winning and sharing the revenue more fairly.
And we both feel better knowing that we were rewarded for how
our products performed AND for how our lists performed.
To do this you need a list of customers/prospects etc. and
of course an affiliate program for your own product.

You also should only do this with products/services that are complementary
and of interest to each other's lists.
If you are already doing some sort of cross-promos with other
companies, but it's the old fashioned way, then consider how
affiliate marketing could change things and make each partner
more committed to generating sales for the other guy.
I hope that helps explain the ad swap concept and how it
can be a win/win.
Cheers,
Peter Koning
