Bask In The Blessings

Count your blessings, but don't be in a big hurry. Take time with each one you think of, and savor the goodness. Most of us need reminding of the creative and generative power of deep gratitude and appreciation. The act and art of savoring and relishing takes you further into the true depths of your blessings, which are numerous, and often unnoticed.

Start with the many functions of your mind that you take for granted. It works well for you, all day, every day. Then move on to your body...the challenge is focusing on what is good, right and working about your body/mind, without being distracted by those things you're worried about. Then finally move on to the world around you, and all of the people, places and things that bless you.

Now, bask in those emotions of comfort, peace and appreciation that arise when you focus on these blessings you otherwise take for granted.

You may not realize it, but this activity of quiet appreciation and basking in the blessing of your positive emotions is actually creative and generative. Meaning, when you allow yourself to settle deeply into this inner world, you are connecting with your inner source of healing, joy and creativity...which is the source of all that you want in life, as connected with your own personal spiritual beliefs.

In addition to deliberate inner work, meditation is one of the best ways to make this journey. You can bask in your blessings as a way to keep your mind focused while you meditate.
