January 30, 2018
Hello dear friends, and a special welcome to all my new subscribers! We try to have a lot of fun around here, and I'm so glad you've
joined.
To start you off right, in today's newsletter we've got: - A review of Dick Francis' Dead Cert, and how Francis was a pioneer of the genre mashup;
- Part 5 of my Story Inspiration series, with an excerpt from Mr Mottley & the Dying Fall;
- A rollicking giveaway of hilarious new mystery series; and
- 2 new featured mystery/thrillers.
My traditional New Year's resolution is to give up
resolutions, and I'm sticking with it like a champ again this year. But I do set small goals for myself to keep making progress (like writing Book 3). How do you manage your goals, and how do you celebrate? I'd love to hear! Why not leave a comment on my Facebook post? I bet we'll all learn something.
Enjoy!

PS: I hope you find this newsletter fun and useful. But if it's not a good fit for you anymore, you can unsubscribe any time.
Dick Francis is the cozy lover’s Raymond Chandler. He plunks down a hard-boiled thriller right in the middle of a cozy mystery setup, and somehow it
just…works.

A strange message, a deserted beach house, a shocking incident from the past ... What would you do if you got a

Help me at Crystal Cottage. Rina. There’s something spooky about these words, but Selkie is about to begin a journey, the roller-coaster ride of her life.
Laying Ghosts is a 60-minute adrenalin rush. But it’s much more. It’s your chance to slip into the skin of Selkie Moon and join the ride! Check it out right here!

Shadow in the Woods by JP Choquette
|
And if spooky suspense is your thing, you'll love this nail-biter!
JP Choquette writes novels that turn pages, not stomachs. Her tense tales are Gothic, not gory, and Shadow in the Woods is a great introduction.
Six go into the woods. Three come
out. Addie Preston, a new mental health counselor, is flattered when her colleague asks her to co-lead an intensive Ecotherapy weekend for a small group of clients. The band of six head into the remote trails of the Green Mountains. As a storm engulfs the area, the group takes refuge in a cave off of the trail. No one is prepared for what they will
discover. Or what will discover them. Readers of books by authors John Connolly and Heather Graham will enjoy this twisty-turning, Gothic-inspired suspense novel.
