I am about to head off for a vacation to recharge my batteries and get re-energized and ready for the second part of the year. Gosh, I don’t know where this year has gone!
We are a little bit more than half way through the year and I always take this time away to do some introspective planning on goals and where I am with the business goals I set forth in January. With so many things coming at us each day it is difficult to actually sit down and reflect on the business rather than constantly be in the business.
Certainly this year has been a bit challenging from an insurance point of view; from new anesthesia codes introduced in January (and the time it took for carriers to catch up with us) to new guidelines from Guardian regarding coverage or lack of coverage for removal of wisdom teeth to the new anesthesia coverage guidelines recently adopted by United Healthcare. Have you read their new guidelines
yet? If not, you don’t want to miss it. Check it out online. It is a constant to keep our fingers on the pulse of the insurance industry so we can do the best job possible for our patients and the practice.
We have also seen continual changes (not so much in our favor) with coordination of
benefits from carriers which in and of itself has made providing estimates to patients more and more difficult.
Some of the positives we have seen is increased collaboration and education in the industry. We have banded together to share knowledge and ideas to help and support each other. The JAWS
Society is a terrific forum in which to expand and grow professionally. Did you attend the meeting this year in California? It was an exceptional few days of learning (yes, even for the speakers)!
I have implemented some new technology in my practice to help me and my team be more
efficient. Have you had the chance to check out my new app developed by Dentalfone? Check out terribradleyapp.com Pretty slick right? You can do this for your office and patients as well. They can have
your contact information, pre and post op instructions etc. right at their fingertips!
We have also recently aligned with Black Talon to take care of all of our cyber security prevention. Protection of patient PHI and protection of clients that work with me is at the forefront; I want to be sure my
policies and procedures are iron clad so that your patient information is protected. Working with Black Talon allows me to sleep better at night.
What were goals for 2018? Are you going to be to accomplish what you set out to do? Do you need to increase production? Looking to
increase the bottom line? Or is this the year you are going to clean up that A/R, finally?
If you need some help in reaching your goals; please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help!
