1. Barnfinding: The Junkyard Carrera

PCA—We have all dreamed of the story I am about to tell. It is about a $75 Carrera found at a junkyard. This story is not fiction, but the real deal. Louis Rio saw a pretty ragged 1957 Porsche 356 Carrera GS sitting in front of a junkyard, and the owner was happy to see it go.

2. New 2019 Porsche GT3 RS ups the ante to 520 horsepower combined with GT2 RS aerodynamics

PCA—The most powerful naturally aspirated 911 is here: the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The automaker will expand upon the formula of the powerful 911 GT3 and increase the horsepower to 520 and to 346 pound-feet of torque. It is the most powerful atmospheric engine ever fitted to a road-legal Porsche.

3. Purple pain: A bold lesson in disappointment

MultiBriefs—When I picked up my first 968 way back in 1996, I was thrilled. It was a 30K-mile example and a cabriolet. It was a blast to drive, and I was so happy to own such a great car.

4. Werks Reunion Amelia Island to debut two special Porsches on the East Coast [w/video]

PCA—Werks Reunion returns to Amelia Island for its second year during concours week and it promises to build on the success of the inaugural event last year. Two notable cars will be making their Werks Reunion debut next month. Here’s a short teaser on one, the 356 SL that won Le Mans. Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports, which restored the SL, will also bring a 356 with a 964 Carrera 4 drivetrain, one of his latest creations.

5. Audi TT RS vs. Porsche 718 Cayman S

Car and Driver—In the winter of 1846, a group of pioneers seeking a better life in the vast unknown of the American West got trapped by weather in the mountains of the California territory. Bored and running desperately low on cheesy Pringles, they had to turn to the most cursed of sustenance: putrefied beef jerky from the Sherman Oaks Chevron station.
