PCA—This past week, a record 2,500 PCA members descended upon Spokane, Washington, for the 62nd Porsche Parade, hosting and participating in dozens of activities, including a concours d’elegance, driving tours, an autocross, time-speed-distance and gimmick rallies, tech quiz, and more.

PCA—Get ready for Werks Reunion Monterey once again, the premiere Porsche show during Monterey Car Week. The event is August 18, and registration is open. Free admission for spectators. Please note the new location at Corral de Tierra Country Club.

Car and Driver—A Porsche sedan used to seem like a strange idea, and the first one, the Panamera, did indeed look strange. Mixing two incongruent design briefs—911 styling cues and a need for rear-seat head- and legroom—resulted in a four-door hunchback that appeared as if it had been elongated uncomfortably in traction.

PCA—Get ready for another PCA National Office Open House on September 16, 2017. Registration will be open soon and announced via e-Brake News and Facebook. Our annual open house event is part car show, part BBQ, and members will have an opportunity to tour the national office with Executive Director Vu Nguyen. PCA—Porsche Club of America (PCA) Club Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East series drivers competed for the first time as a series at Monticello Motor Club (MMC) as part of the PCA Club Racing’s Porsche of Conshohocken Presents the 2017 Riesentöter Stuttgart Challenge at Monticello Motor Club event.
 
PCA—For those of you attending the Formula 1 US Grand Prix in Austin this year, Hill Country Region (HCR) of PCA has an exclusive opportunity for you to dine at the world famous Franklin Barbecue!

The Drive—We've been going to the Monterey Historics since 2013 when we moved to the western US. Unfortunately, this display of car control from the vintage racing king of Northern California was a couple years before we started attending. Thanks to the Revs Institute, we were given the opportunity to check it out anyway, as they uploaded this 2011 onboard in preparation for next month's festivities.

Carfection via YouTube—Join us for the Porscheplatz at the Northeast Grand Prix, Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, CT., on Friday and Saturday, July 21-22. The Porscheplatz is located trackside at Turn 6, and provides great view of all the racing action. You can also relax in the tent, enjoy a cool beverage, and watch the races via live feed TV.  “Porsche Only” parking will be available in the Car Corral area next to the tent.

Road & Track—There were fast wagons built before the RS2 debuted in 1994, but none were through-and-through performance cars like this blue Audi. The RS2 didn't just create a lineage of fast Audi wagons—none of which have been sold in the US—but established an entire genre.

The Spokesman-Review—Gleaming in the summer sun, over 350 Porsches drew a small crowd at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon, as the cars prepped to embark on a 13-mile parade through Spokane.

Car and Driver—What It Is: A near complete preview of the next-generation Porsche Cayenne. Although the smaller Macan has overtaken the Cayenne as Porsche’s best-selling vehicle, sales remain high for the mid-size truck (it outsold the 911 by a margin greater than 300 units last month), and all consumer trends remain pointed directly at high-riding crossovers and SUVs, not low-slung sports cars.

The Drive—"It's easy to win when you have the right car", says the Le Mans winning Porsche legend Ickx before he steps aboard the cars that helped him to win. During the Porsche Experience Day at Fuji Speedway, attendees were treated to the pleasure of watching Jackie work his magic behind the wheel of the 956 and 936 that he raced at Le Mans decades earlier.

Petrolicious—Look at this Porsche. Not very special, right? Just a random 964 Carrera 4. And it would be, if it wasn’t for its previous owner. Roland Ratzenberger became famous for being the “other” driver to get killed in that horrible Grand Prix weekend in 1994 that also claimed the life of the great Ayrton Senna.

MultiBriefs—A New York auto body shop owner was recently indicted for stealing a 1978 Porsche 911 from a dead man.
 
The Drive—If electric cars are ever going to make serious inroads into the new car market, they're going to need places to recharge. Not just rinky-dink 110-volt wall outlets and Level 2 chargers; pure electric vehicles will need serious flow, in order to recharge 300-mile battery packs in reasonable amounts of time.

Road & Track—At the Goodwood launch of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, Porsche brought racing legend Walter Röhrl up on stage and invoked the mighty 935. Various attendees either ground their teeth or rolled their eyes.

The Drive—Are we tired of GT2 RS content yet? There's been a lot of it over the last few weeks, but we're still interested in how this car will play out when it arrives later this year.
 
Road & Track—At the presentation of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series and the new 700 hp 911 GT2, Porsche compared them to the legendary 935 race car. Walter Röhrl, who raced the 935, told our Máté Petrany that he didn't quite agree with that assessment...

Motor1—In the late 1960s and early ‘70s, the Porsche 911 was a common sight at the top level of European rally competition, including wins at the Monte Carlo Rally in ’68, ’69, and ’70. While you aren’t going to see a Porsche at the top of the WRC results today, this 1978 911 Safari on James Edition would let its new owner emulate some of the model’s off-road glory.

Photo by Joseph Abruzzo Chicago Region. "My wife and I took a weekend road trip to Indiana and saw a farmer selling pumpkins. We stopped and bought four medium and six small ones. We were able to fit all of them in the two trunks, in addition to a weekend’s worth of luggage! I always knew my 2010 Cayman S would be a blast to drive, but its practicality came as a nice surprise."
