PCA—We maintain that a front-engined, four-cylinder, water-cooled model is the least-expensive way into Porsche ownership, but we know there are those who may only be able to stomach one
of those descriptors in their own Porsche. They should take a good look at the 1999-04 911.
PCA—We have just over 400 Porsches registered for Werks Reunion Amelia Island — on track to surpass the first Werks Monterey in 2014. If you plan to display your Porsche, head over to WerksReunion.com to register.
PCA—The world-renowned 55th Rolex 24 at Daytona is
scheduled for January 26-29, 2017 at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida. PCA welcomes all PCA members, Porsche owners, and their guests to the PCA Car Corral Hospitality Tent, located infield at "The Kink."
Jalopnik—I try not to blog about myself, but I’ll start this one off by saying my entire week has consisted of touring wedding venues. Never once did I imagine moseying on over to a vehicle showroom. But this couple, obviously more creative than I am, did. The result was about as classy as one of these “wedding” shindigs can get.
Road & Track—A single moment. A
fleeting flash when road, driver, and car come together. The instant you recognize the moment is happening, it is gone. You can turn around and run that corner again, but the effect will never be quite the same. You can't hear your favorite song for the first time twice. Yet the experience is forever grooved into your memory.
The Drive—2016 is winding to a close, and we're taking a look back at our favorite moments from the year in relation to Porsche cars and the folks who love them.
Motor1—Just before the end of the year, Porsche has announced the
second 918 Spyder recall for 2017. Back in July, the super hybrid was inspected for a potential problem with the seatbelts, and now all U.S. examples of the car will be recalled because they may have front lower control arms that may crack at the ball joint, as NHTSA explains.
MotorAuthority—The Porsche 917 is one of the most insane automotive creations ever dreamt up by humanity, offering a performance level that remains as impressive today as it was during the 1970s, when it dominated events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Renee Brinkerhoff - Valkyrie Racing—The cars are loaded on trailers and headed home after a grueling 7 day, 2,000 mile race through the La Carrera Panamericana gauntlet! All the limits were tested!
Here's the wrap up for the Porsche 356s that participated.
MultiBriefs—A couple of months ago, one of my karate students surprised me with a delightful gift. He had purchased a 3-D printer, and his first project was a model of a Porsche.
The Drive—From all fronts, Porsche's new Macan is getting top marks among the small luxury SUV segment. Every review of the new 2 liter turbocharged four cylinder powered base iteration has thus far been pretty positive, with most of them remarking something in the realm of "surprising.”
Autoblog—If you ever happen to be in Germany, you simply have to make some time to visit the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. This beautiful structure is packed to the gills with some of the rarest, most significant Porsches ever made – as you'd probably expect it would be.
Fox Sports—Before the season began, Brandon Marshall made a bold bet with the best wide receiver in football. He challenged Antonio Brown to a pink-slip bet, to be determined by their yardage totals at the end of the year.
The Drive—Last time I spent time with the 912E, I was trying to figure out getting a fix on the braking system. The car had been sitting for quite a while before I'd purchased it, and the previous owner said that when he'd driven it two years prior the brakes had been less than acceptable.
Motor1—It may not look like one, but
this is a street-legal car, which means you can park it next to a humble VW Polo at your local mall for a round of shopping. However, we wouldn’t recommend doing that since there’s virtually no cargo area for your groceries.
Car and Driver—Here we have high-end indulgences that, prior to this year, would have each packed six cylinders: the Volvo’s in a row and the Porsches’ pancaked flat. But for economy-minded 2017, each of these half-dozens has been downsized to a third-dozen.
GTspirit—Porsche offer a bespoke painting service called “Paint to Sample” which provides customers with a unique opportunity to outfit a a colour entirely unique to their car. It has produced some pretty stunning Porsche models in the past. One of the latest PTS models is a Porsche 911 R “Steve McQueen”
Edition.
Roadshow by CNET—We critics may help sway buyers, but when it comes down to it, if the owner isn't satisfied, that's what matters most. Consumer Reports just published its annual Owner Satisfaction Survey, and the results look good -- for Porsche and Tesla, at least. Read More
Motor1—One is six UK examples of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S has been stolen at some point in its life, making it the car most likely to be stolen in the country.
Petrolicious—It all started with my Mother, strangely.
I woke up in my childhood home to a text from her while driving in Bedford New York. She had run into this incredible blue 911 “covered in lights”. She sent along a photo of what I immediately recognized as a Leh Keen Safari 911.
The
Drive—We've expressed our love of the 968 here in the past, and while the standard 968 is brilliant, it's the special iterations on this chassis that really make it a phenomenal, and by-and-large overlooked piece of Porsche's history.
Autoweek—The Racers Group will return to fielding Porsches in IMSA in 2017 with the team announcing plans to enter a full-time GT Daytona entry with a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
