PCA—Porsche introduced the new Carrera T on Wednesday at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The nomenclature may be reminiscent of the 911T, which was the base 911 in the U.S. from 1969-73, but in reality, the designation is where the similarity ends.

Petrolicious—When the Porsche 911T was introduced in 1968, it redefined the concept of sporting simplicity. In the years since, the ethos of the original has evolved to bring us the 2017 911 Carrera T. Though no longer the entry-level option it once was, the new T remains focused on the purity of the 911 experience; what isn’t necessary, isn’t there. It is light, focused, the antithesis to apathy, and tangible proof that some people still care about the way driving makes us feel.

Road & Track—Some eyebrows had to be raised when Porsche launched the 911 GT3 Touring Package earlier this year. After all, here was a car that, on paper, looked a lot like the ultra-valuable, ultra-rare 911 R, with a lower price and no set production numbers. There are key differences between the R and the GT3 Touring, but according to 911 boss August Achleitner, the similarties aren't a coincidence.

PCA—​​​​​​​The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the PCA NATIONAL AUTOCROSS program. The logo will be used online, in print, on merchandise, including the need to resize easily and to look good in black and white as well as color. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing. ​​​​​​​Submission deadline has been extended to December 15.

Motor1—As if the 718 twins weren’t already grin-inducing performers, Porsche has given us 15 more reasons to love both the Boxster and Cayman and it’s summed up in three letters: GTS.

Jalopnik—A 1979 Porsche 924 stolen from a Medford, Oregon, parking lot in 1991 has finally been found at the base of a cliff southwest of Crater Lake, reports KOMO. From the looks of the car, it certainly didn’t have the most pleasant trip down there.

PCA—The Porsche Club of America is proud to announce a unique creative project with OMEGA, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, which has resulted in a limited-edition collection of 99 unique and very rare timepieces. The order waitlist will remain open as OMEGA confirms orders. There are only a few watches left!
 
Road & Track—You get the sense that some people at Porsche stuck their necks out a little bit to make the new, manual-transmission 911 GT3 a reality. Sure, many enthusiasts had been clamoring for such a car, but would they actually buy it?

Motor1—Porsche has pledged that the 2.0-liter engine inside the 718 Boxster and Cayman duo will remain the company’s smallest engine as the folks from Stuttgart don’t have plans to downsize furthermore. The important announcement was made this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show by Michael Steiner, member of the executive board for R&D.

PCA—​​​​​​​The Executive Council has appointed Ken Hold, Bluegrass Region; Maggie Goodman-Garnett, Kansas City Region; and Ron Gordon, Chesapeake Region as members of the 2017-2019 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Manual of National Policy and Procedures (MNPP) and PCA National Bylaws. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Executive Council officer roles for the 2019-2020 term. As part of this process, the committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s Regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. The timing to get suggestions to any member of the committee is no later than December 15, 2017.

Motor1—Just 918 examples of the Porsche 918 Spyder were built between 2013 and 2015. Of course, each and every example of the million-dollar hypercar was snatched up almost immediately, and searching the market for a well-kept used example today should set you back no less than $2 million. But there is an alternative if you’re looking for something that still features "918" branding.
 
Road & Track—Porsche may be known for the flat-six. But it makes a hell of a V8.
One such V8 was in the 928, a car that was never allowed to live to its full potential. See, the 928 was supposed to replace the 911, but that obviously didn't happen. The 928's fate was written on the wall the day that happened.

Jalopnik—It took four years for filmmaker Chris Kippenberger just to track down Willi Thom, but once he did, he found one of the most obsessively perfect Porsche 911 builds in the world. This backdated 1980 911 SC was lightened to a featherweight 1,807 lbs—and my goodness, it sounds amazing.
 
Road & Track—We've recommended a bunch of vehicles in our daily You Must Buy series where we show you cool cars for sale. But this shady Porsche GT1 replica is a little different. Please do not buy this car. At least, not if you're a stickler for accuracy.

Photo by Fred Borg. North Florida Region. "In late September 2015, I drove my 2002 Boxster all the way from Panama City, Florida to Rapid City, South Dakota for the "Escape to Rushmore" event. After the Escape was over, I continued to drive around the area, enjoying a beautiful part of America. The round trip was almost 6,000 miles with never a problem and 28 miles per gallon. Sure, my car is dusty. It's not a garage queen or a show car. I don't baby it, I USE it, and I'm not shy about driving it down dirt roads to explore the back country. Porsche's are built tough and can take it."
