Road & Track—With Toyota setting a lap record and taking pole by nearly three seconds, many expected this year's battle for the overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be little more than a formality, a coronation for a Toyota program that has patiently waited for its turn to win here since returning in 2012.

PCA—I grew up down South, so I am well versed in Southern culture and all the peculiar stuff that goes along with it. But I've lived in New York for almost 20 years now, so sometimes I forget.

​​​​​​​A recent trip to Virginia brought back some of this Southern fun when I picked up a 356A coupe that had bullet holes down the side of it.

PCA—Remember the Porsche Cayman GT4? So do we, and we just can’t get enough of it. Perhaps the man behind the savagegeese YouTube channel (link is external) has the same feeling and made this video for people like us PCA members. Jalopnik—Say you’re looking for a classic, cheap rear-wheel-drive sports car for cruising in the countryside over the weekend, or even whip out for the occasional track day session. PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Car Week, and is the only event where classic race cars are doing what they were originally intended to do — race. Oversteer by Autotrader—I think it's time to address one of those automotive things that everyone is wrong about, like the midengine Corvette, or when people spell it "Camero." But this one is a little more controversial, so bear with me: I think the "996" Porsche 911 is the best 911 you can buy.

Automobile—We are finally face-to-face with the upcoming, 700-horsepower Porsche 911 GT2 RS, and this isn’t just a Turbo with some extra grunt. Indeed, a wild ride from Stuttgart over the Swabian Alb to Munich suggests this latest forced-induction 911 is about to turn the high-performance sports car world upside down.

The Smoking Tire via YouTube—This 1979 "G-Body" Porsche 911 has been stripped to bare metal and rebuilt from the ground up to not only a very high performance standard, but also a very high cosmetic standard. It was built by GProgramm of Oyster Bay, NY, with the goal of bringing out the very best of classic 911 styling and modern performance in an air-cooled package. It has been converted from torsion beam to coil-over suspension, with big brakes, modern Fuchs-look wheels, and a 350-horsepower 3.4L "Twin Plug" flat-six.

Jalopnik—​​​​​​​Yesterday was Father’s Day, so, Prestone, one of the leading makers of coolants, antifreeze, radiator flushing compounds, and other car-juices, put up some sentimental pro-dad content on their social media accounts. There was just one problem: the car they chose was one of the few that has no need for the products they’re best known for.

Car and Driver—The old saying “where the rubber meets the road” usually means something will reach a critical point. Naturally the expression refers to automobile tires, since those crucial pieces of rubber are the only part of your car or truck that are supposed to make constant contact with the pavement. That’s why it’s important to know and maintain the correct amount of air pressure in your vehicle’s tires.

Oversteer by Autotrader—A few months back, I wrote about the Porsche 944 Turbo losing its status as the cheapest turbocharged Porsche. With 944 prices rising, and the first-generation Cayenne Turbo rapidly depreciating, the crown had officially been passed to Porsche's first venture into grocery getting.

Petrolicious—This might be a tricky argument, and those that cannot be swayed have every right not to be, but I think there’s validity in this all the same: you don’t need to get a drop of oil on your hands to be a bonafide devotee of the automobile.

Road & Track—Back in 1984, Porsche built the 911 SC/RS. Based on the road-going SC, the SC/RS was designed for Group 4 and Group B rallying, and featured a widened lightweight body, heavy-duty suspension, and 255 horsepower. Only 20 were ever built, making them a true rarity, but as we can see from this video, at least one is still competing to this day.

Autoblog—We've already seen the new generations of the plain 911 Carrera, as well as the base 911 Turbo, testing at the Nürburgring, so it was only a matter of time before we saw a version of the next-generation 911 Turbo S at the Green Hell. We know this is a Turbo S because it says so on the front lip spoiler. It also has the fixed rear wing of the current Turbo S.

Autoblog—Porsches are pretty cool. Jerry Seinfeld is, too. Combine the two, and you get lots of cool, which this Porsche 911 GT3 RS has. That's because this particular example was first owned by the famous comedian and car enthusiast.
