PCA—More than two weeks ago, we shared a video of Drivetribe’s Jethro Bovingdon driving the new GT3 on track with the PDK gearbox, and he felt it was a big improvement over the previous GT3 because of the progress made on the naturally aspirated flat six. Now, he’s driven it on the road and thinks it’s better than the 911R.

PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a new, weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the “freshest” Porsches currently available in The Mart, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1992 968, 1973 914 2.0, and a 2006 Cayenne S.

PCA—In this issue, Art Mason gives a brief history of the 928 for the Porsche’s 40th anniversary in “928 at 40,” and Christine Reed presents “928 Design Analysis.” Tom M’Guinness profiles a member and his dream car, a 924 Carrera GTR, in “The Other Carrera.” In “Endless Love,” Jerry Garrett tells the story of a man and his mother and a 1967 911S. Sean Cridland details how Chris Runge built a Porsche-powered custom inspired by the Glöckler Porsches of the 1950s, in “Time Machine.” The first Werks Reunion Amelia Island was a roaring success — find out why in Bruce Sweetman’s “A Piece of Werks,” then go watch the videos from the event.

PCA Club Racing—The Porsche Club of America (PCA) Club Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East series is set to compete at scenic Barber Motorsports Park for the first time as part of the annual Barber Historics weekend May 19-21. Sanctioned by the Historic Motor Sports Association, the event features historically significant race cars from different time periods on Barber’s 2.38 mile, 17-turn course in Birmingham, Ala.
 
PCA—Get ready for Werks Reunion Monterey once again, the premiere Porsche show during Monterey Car Week. The event is August 18, and registration opens May 10 at 12 PM PDT.

Road & Track—When it comes to street cars, lap times aren't all that important. Sure, manufacturers use the Nurburgring as a benchmark, but in reality, not many people buy their cars to set times at their local track. But who cares, we still want to know which is the fastest.

Road & Track—The last GT3 had a fiery start. There were the engine fires that caught early owners by surprise. Porsche quickly fixed the problem, but on the Internet, home of comments, another problem emerged when purists found out that the GT3 would only be sold with an automatic transmission.

Automobile—Autobahn at last! As the speed limit lifts and the road ahead clears, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 is out front of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R when the day’s first give ’em stick moment arrives. Though the curves meander leisurely through the oldest stretch of the A92 motorway between Munich and the foothills of the Bavarian Forest, reading the road ahead is essential at 150-plus mph as heaves and off-camber sections often present themselves without warning.

Jalopnik—It’s a 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S, painted in Irish Green and designed to mirror some details from the very first 911 from 1963. And when it rolled off the assembly line in Zuffenhausen today, it became the one-millionth Porsche 911.

Autoweek—If you've read about, shopped for or driven a Porsche in the past decade, you've probably heard of the brand's PDK dual-clutch transmission. PDK shifts faster than other types of transmissions, includes a launch control feature and, even better, doesn't need clutch replacements -- ever. But what exactly is PDK and how does it work?
 
Motor Trend—A federal judge has granted final approval on a settlement announced earlier this year for 3.0-liter diesel vehicles. In the deal, Volkswagen agreed to pay at least $1.22 billion to fix or buy back 3.0-liter diesel vehicles equipped with cheat devices.

Road & Track—As much as we'd like to believe that naturally aspirated engines are still king, it's hard to argue with the numbers turbocharged motors can generate. The latest supporting evidence comes to us from the Nurburgring, where German publication Sport Auto has set a 7:24 lap time in the new twin-turbo 911 Carrera GTS. That's really, really quick.

Car and Driver—Porsche was set to put a plug-in-hybrid version of the next-gen 911 sports car into series production, but we’ve learned the project was killed a while ago—last year, in fact, according to August Achleitner, head of 718 and 911 development. He revealed that fact to Car and Driver today at an event held to celebrate production of the 1,000,000th 911.

Road & Track—When Porsche announced today that around 700,000 of the million 911s built are still on the road, we couldn't help but wonder which cars specifically are still roadworthy. We assumed that a majority of the 700,000 911s were more recent examples, but researching that claim revealed an interesting bit of information: A majority of 911s produced are water-cooled, not air cooled.
