PCA—The first Treffen North America event was held recently in the Lake Tahoe area, attended by 300 members and more than 220 Porsches. Billed as a "four star" PCA event focusing on driving great roads, eating exquisite food, and socializing with members, Treffen Lake Tahoe delivered on all three fronts — and then some.

​​​​​​​PCA—​​​​​​​Canadian Tom Collingwood hasn't yet finished on the podium this year in the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East series, but he's enjoying his rookie season and has caught the racing bug.

PCA—Tech Tactics West will be available on two days this year, November 19th and 20th. Each day is dedicated to Porsche technical information hosted by PCA National and Porsche Cars North America at its West Coast training facility in Ontario, CA. New to Tech Tactics West this year is Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports. Registration opens on MotorsportReg.com on October 1.

Oversteer via Autotrader—I recently had the greatest experience of my entire life. It happened in suburban Cleveland, Ohio, next to a P.F. Chang's.

As you probably guessed from reading the title and seeing the images, my greatest experience was driving a Porsche Carrera GT, a 612-horsepower, midengine supercar that cost $440,000 when it came out and directly rivaled the Ferrari Enzo.

MultiBriefs—Two of the more recent additions to Porsche's lineup are cars that many of us have been dreaming about for a while. The German performance car maker finally gave 911 levels of power (albeit slightly detuned) to the well-balanced platform of the Cayman and Boxster in the Cayman GT4 and latest Boxster Spyder.

The Drive—It’s the end of the 911!” my dad said. This was way back in 1999. “911’s are supposed to be air-cooled!”

He was wrong, like all the skeptics were wrong again in 2016, when Porsche added turbocharging to the entire range. They were wrong again in 2019, with the arrival of the first 911 hybrid, and 2022, with the once-controversial electric 911E. How many remember the last 911 with an internal combustion engine that wasn’t a hybrid? I sure do: the year was 2030, and I was screaming louder than anyone else.

Road Show by CNET—P-car purists will moan and groan about the 2017 C4S. "It has turbochargers and all-wheel drive," they'll say. "It's not a real 911!" To those people I say, drive one. You'll have a hard time getting out of the front seat.

Automobile—Last month I characterized the first Panamera sedan as “ugly.” Any production Porsche is exceptionally well-made, even those poorly engineered, and even something as artless as the 911 can become an icon when great development triumphs over bad design. But those first hump-backed Panameras were conceived on the whim of the then Porsche chief executive so he could wear a hat in the backseat—not a solid start.

Fox News Auto—They arrived at the agreed-upon time. Bob Lange and his son, Jason, walked up to the ranch-style house with the detached garage. It had a dented door and its paint was faded by years of near-desert California sun. Black Flag via Jalopnik—Romain Dumas in the No. 2 Porsche 919 wanted to show the No. 5 Toyota TS050 who’s boss early during the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas as the No. 5 tried to get around the Porsche. So, he darted over and forced the No. 5 to pass him through the pit lane exit.

Motorsport.com—Porsche is the latest major car manufacturer to show a direct interest in Formula E as it is believed to have submitted an applicant tender to be the sole battery supplier for the championship in 2018.
 
Insurance Journal—Porsche Holding SE was caught up in the Volkswagen AG emissions debacle as investors raced to file German lawsuits ahead of the one-year anniversary of the scandal.

A group of institutional investors filed a pair of lawsuits, seeking 2.8 billion ($2.5 billion) from VW and 2.2 billion euros from Porsche, Klaus Nieding, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said Friday. Porsche, which is also publicly traded, owns the majority of VW shares.
