PCA—What started out way back in 1955 as “the gripe group” at a local steakhouse in Washington, D.C. has grown in ways Porsche Club of America (PCA) founder Bill Sholar could have only imagined. On this day 61 years ago, as 12 Porsche owners gathered for dinner and discussion, they laid the plans that would pave the way for future success.

PCA—Tech Tactics West will be available on two days this year, November 19th and 20th. Each day is dedicated to Porsche technical information hosted by PCA National and Porsche Cars North America at its West Coast training facility in Ontario, CA. Rennlist—The newest fad in wrapping cars is making a vehicle look like it’s been through serious stuff and survived. Some look like The Walking Dead‘s Rick after a gang of walkers tried and sadly failed to kill Carl, some look like they’ve been left to rot in an old barn, and some look like they tried to drive in an Atlanta twin-inch snow storm. Rust, dirt, and faux-crushed metal are the new fake bullet holes. But some of them still look pretty cool.

Car and Driver—​​​​​​​Sitting atop the hard-core branch of the sprawling Porsche 911 hierarchy, the $178,250 GT3 RS seemed a great candidate for some testing of its track-day mettle. So we spent three consecutive days pushing it to its limits—and sometimes slightly beyond—at our tenth Lightning Lap competition at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), before hopping back into its carbon-fiber bucket seat for the 700-mile trek back to our Ann Arbor, Michigan, office.

Autoblog—The Porsche Panamera didn't need much improving. Okay, the humpback design was short of pretty, and people really liked complaining about the Spine of Many Buttons down the center console. But once you sat down in one (and could no longer see the shape) then set the chassis how you wanted it, the nitpicking stopped. Now back for round two, the Panamera has been visited with improvement in almost every area.
 
Car and Driver—Of the few criticisms leveled at the 2010–2016 Porsche Panamera, the only one with any substance was a disdain for its baggy butt. The original four-door Porsche hatchback charged hard, scythed through curves, and swallowed highway miles whole—all while appearing to wear a loaded diaper.

The Independent—Time passes and things change. Here we are dealing with a rip-snorting big naturally aspirated engine in a four-wheel drive chassis of some brilliance. And up against it is a car with a relatively weedy 3.4-litre engine. At least the 911 Turbo gets a flat-six unlike lesser versions with the flat-four with the anodyne soundtrack.

 Car and Driver—All-wheel drive can cover for a lot of driver ineptitude. Carry too much speed into a corner, stand on the gas anyway, and you can squirt out the other side none the wiser. Do that in a rear-drive car and you’ll be hangin’ it out like Jason Bourne eluding the CIA yet again, or worse, stuffing it into a curb, as hundreds of Cars and Coffee wipeout videos on YouTube prove.
 
Jalopnik—I love crazy engine swaps, even if they turn a car from daily-drive-able to totally useless. Here’s a Porsche Cayman—a car normally fitted with a mid-mounted, low-slung flat-six— but with a big 5.0-liter Coyote V8 swapped in. It may sound like blasphemy, but just watch how much power this thing makes on the dyno.

AutoGuide.com—The FIA World Endurance Championship is heading to Austin, Texas, on September 17 for the sixth round in this year’s race, and Porsche is looking strong as it heads into the event at the Circuit of the Americas.

Photo by Kesse Ho. Grand Prix Region. "I joined the Porsche Club of America, GPX Region, at the end of 2015 and immediately signed up for my very first tour sponsored by the club. The tour, GPX Tour of the Ft. Irwin Nat'l Training Center — January 16, 2016 — was so popular that I was wait-listed. Luckily, the Army allowed the wait-listed people to join the tour. I was thrilled.

"We were supposed to meet at 9 AM at the famous 'Painted Rock,' a few miles from the training center along the route. It is only about 2.5 hours away from my house; but I decided to leave the house at 5 AM so as not to take any chances with my first longer Porsche trip. Even with a quick breakfast stop along the way, I arrived at the 'Painted Rock' nearly an hour early. The blue sky in the desert and the moving white clouds towards me was so beautiful that I took a few photos at different angles. This was one of them."
