| | PCA—Today Porsche announced it will bring the 718 Cayman T and 718 Boxster T to North America. The new T models take the base 718 and add performance enhancing equipment that should make them an even better drive than before.

PCA—We have replaced the 3rd grand prize with the 718 Cayman T and 718 Boxster T. Each fall and spring, Porsche Club of America opens a member only raffle, in which you, the member, may purchase entries for a chance to win a brand-new Porsche. For the Fall 2019 Member Only Raffle, the first grand prize is a brand-new 718 Cayman GT4 plus $25,000 in cash. The second grand prize is a
718 Spyder plus $25,000 in cash. Any additional grand prizes are either a 718 Cayman T or Boxster T, plus $25,000 in cash. Alternatively, winners may also choose $85,000 instead of a car plus $25,000. After the initial 8,500 entries, another Grand Prize will be added for every additional 4,000 entries sold. Raffle entries are $50 (USD) each.
| | PCA—Today Porsche announced what we've all been waiting for: a manual transmission option for the new 911. Specifically the automaker is now offering a seven-speed manual for the coupe and cabriolet
models of the 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S with no mention of such a transmission for the base Carreras.
The focus of pairing the manual with the new 911 is obviously not speed, as Porsche conspicuously omits an exact 0-60 miles-per-hour time, simply stating the Carrera S will do it in "around 4 seconds" — still quite quick — and a top speed of "around 190 mph." Porsche says more detailed specifications will be released at a later date.

PCA—In the spring of 2019, I started to hear rumblings that one of our local car museums, Audrain Automobile, would be hosting a world-class Concours as well as supporting dozens of other car events from October 3-6 — the first Audrain’s Newport Concours Motor Week. I’ve always wanted to go to the Pebble Beach or
Amelia Island Concours, but I couldn’t pass up an event like this in my own backyard, Newport, RI.

| | PCA—The newly unveiled Taycan will be the featured presentation at Tech Tactics West 2019, and Porsche AG's Lukas Kraemer, the Taycan's Manager of Complete Vehicle Product Line will be presenting. Be the first to see it up close and personal as you hear from the production specialist about its development and features. You'll also have the opportunity to
see it "unwrapped" as its components will be showcased in the Porsche Training Facility Demo room. Tech Tactics West is a day dedicated to Porsche technical information. This event is for the casual information gatherer to the everyday Porsche mechanic and will be held at the Porsche Training facility in Eastvale, CA which is used to train Porsche technicians and is perfect for this "hand-on" type of event. It is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms with lifts and drive train
assemblies available for use of our event. Attendees may choose to attend November 23 or 24 — the 23rd is almost sold out. The day will consist of lectures by PCNA Specialists, members of the PCA Technical Committee, as well as special guest speakers.

PCA—The PCA Sim Race at Circuit of The Americas featured more close racing. John Koch of Chicago Region again started from the pole position and went on to win his first PCA Sim Racing Series race, followed by Gresham Wagner of First Settlers Region in second, and Christopher Paiz of Lone Star Region in third. Series
3 is the final PCA sim series in 2019 and features the Porsche GT3 Cup race car on some of the more challenging shorter circuits in North America. Hagerty—Based in the UK, classic car restoration specialist Thornley Kelham started out with the restoration of an Aston Martin DB4 and went further by upgrading and personalizing one rare Lancia after another. Most recently, the team completed a Bizzarrini job that took the better part of 4500 hours. When it came to
keeping that Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada as original as possible, Thornley Kelham retained even the rather poor factory welding, taking care to strengthen the chassis at all critical points.

PCA—The Executive Council has appointed Maggie Goodman Garnett, Kansas City Region; Ron Gordon, Chesapeake Region; and John D’Angelo, Loma Prieta Region as members of the 2019-2021 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Manual of National Policy and Procedures (MNPP) and PCA
National Bylaws. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Executive Council officer roles for the 2021-2022 term. As part of this process, the committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s Regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. The timing to get suggestions to any member of the committee is no later than December 15, 2019.

Autoweek—With news yesterday that Porsche is living up to its promise of offering a proper seven-speed manual transmission on the 992-series 911, a predictable argument sprang up around the Autoweek office: PDK or stick shift? If you're surprised there's an argument against the manual, you haven't driven a PDK-equipped
Porsche in recent years. The brand's automated dual-clutch gearbox is simply sublime, resulting in faster 0-60 times and quicker lap times than a self-shifted 911 can accomplish. But no matter how good it is, it's not a stick shift, with all the satisfying (and, occasionally, frustrating) connotations that come along with a manual transmission.

The Drive—Folks, we're only ten years and two months away from the year 2030 and, boy, is it starting to feel like it. According to Driving.ca citing research conducted by J.D. Power, more Americans bought electric vehicles than they did ones with manual transmissions in the third quarter of 2019.

The Drive—The Problem: The instrument cluster may not provide a visual warning when the brake pads are worn out, increasing the risk of a crash.
Porsche said this recall includes vehicles that were previously repaired in the spring.
The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster for free.
