Motor Trend—Michael Mauer has been head of design at Porsche since 2004 and has overseen a massive expansion of the brand’s model range and sales. We caught him at the reveal of the second-generation 2017 Panamera, the long-awaited redo of one of Mauer’s most successful and controversial cars.

The Drive—When it was unveiled in 1977 as Porsche’s new flagship, the 928 was immediately deemed sacrilege by the Stuttgart faithful. Beholden to the “timeless” design and engineering of the 911—which traced its bug-eyed/air-cooled/rear-engined roots directly to Ferdinand Porsche’s mission to build a wagen for Hitler’s volks in the 1930s—Porschephiles dug in their heels and said, nein.

Road & Track—The last Porsche 911 GT2 RS was just about the craziest 911 ever to reach production when it debuted in 2010. It had an engine from a 911 Turbo, tuned to over 600 horsepower. Just like every other 997-era GT Porsche, it came with a fantastic six-speed manual exclusively.

Bloomberg—Volkswagen settled its diesel deception involving almost 500,000 U.S. automobiles, paying dearly to satisfy car owners affected by the emissions scandal. What it hasn’t done is make whole its very best customers—those who own its pricier brands, which nevertheless run on smog-spewing engines.

Automobile—With a monumental price tag and a level of individualization not seen on many other cars, every new 911 by Singer revealed is an event to celebrate. Singer brought two of its finest to a display at this year’s Pebble Beach concours, and they are as jewel-like and well-crafted as we have seen from the California builder.
 
Road & Track—Whether you're a fan of air-cooled Porsches or their water-cooled successors, this should be a fun video to watch. It's an on-board from Showdown911, a Youtube channel full of on-track Porsche action. In this clip, the driver of an air-cooled Porsche 911 Carrera faces off against a new yellow Porsche Cayman GT4 on the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

Racer—The No. 22 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R entry, owned by WeatherTech founder and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sponsor David MacNeil, is ending its season in the GT Daytona class, effective immediately. The No. 22 program, run by Florida's Alex Job Racing, would likely shift to the Pirelli World Challenge series for the remainder of 2016.
 
Fox Sports—Park Place Motorsports will also not take part in next weekend's Michelin GT Challenge at VIR, with its Porsche 911 GT3 R parked for the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round, due to Balance of Performance concerns.
