PCA—The Porsche 912 had the body of a 911, but with a four-cylinder from the outgoing 356, it came with a lower price. For Rick Becker, Pacific Northwest Region member and 912 & 912E Register Advocate, it was the perfect mix of performance for the price when he bought his '66 used in 1977.

PCA—In early 2016, Porsche announced the 718 Boxster and Boxster S followed by the 718 Cayman and Cayman S a few months later. In true Porsche fashion, a GTS model for both the coupe and roadster had to be around the corner. Nearly two years later, we’re finally getting the 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS.

LA Auto Show Porsche Club Preview registration opens October 25
PCA—PCA members: If you want to attend the Los Angeles Auto Show Porsche Club Preview event on December 1, be ready to register on October 25 at 12 PM Pacific. With just 300 spots, the event will sell out quickly. Check back to e-Brake News next week for the registration link.
 
PCA—A popular PCA member benefit is The Mart, the club’s classifieds section online and in each issue of Porsche Panorama. Mart Fresh is a bi-weekly column in which PCA media staff pick what they think are the "freshest" Porsches currently available, and then attempt to explain their reasoning. Up this week are a 1983 944, 2008 Cayenne GTS, or ... a 1987 959!

PCA—​​​​​​​The Executive Council has appointed Ken Hold, Bluegrass Region; Maggie Goodman-Garnett, Kansas City Region; and Ron Gordon, Chesapeake Region as members of the 2017-2019 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Manual of National Policy and Procedures (MNPP) and PCA National Bylaws. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Executive Council officer roles for the 2019-2020 term. As part of this process, the committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s Regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. The timing to get suggestions to any member of the committee is no later than December 15, 2017.

Porsche Parade, PCA's annual weeklong event, takes place in a new place each year. For 2018, we're heading to the midwest — the summer resort town of Osage Beach

The whole thing was extremely German, and that’s a very good thing. Here’s what I learned.
 
Road & Track—Porsche's been in the endurance racing game long enough to know that reliability is essential to success. To get ready for the 2017 season, Porsche took its new, mid-engine 911 RSR race car to Sebring for an endurance test. A 50-hour endurance test, to be specific.

The Smoking Tire via YouTube—The Mercedes 500E is the quintessential 90's Mercedes. It's Mercedes before AMG. In order to build the world's sleepiest production sport sedan, Mercedes, with the help of Porsche, installed a DOHC, 32-Valve 5.0L V8 Engine from the 500SL into their E-Class midsize sedan.

Porsche Newsroom—The six-hour race on the Fuji International Speedway was hampered by persistent rain plus fog and staged in only 14 degree Celsius ambient temperature and 16 degree track temperature. Interruptions and neutralisations influenced the track action. Neel Jani (CH), André Lotterer (DE) and Nick Tandy (GB) finished in third place.
 
The Chronicle Herald—They were a diverse group, young and not-so-young, married, single and widowed from Australia, China, Germany, Finland and Canada.
There were medical specialists, entrepreneurs, executives and business owners.
As different as their lives and homes were, they shared two loves — travel and Porsches.

PCA—The editors of Panorama are working on some stories and they need your help: We’d love to tell the story of the long-time connection between pilots and Porsches. From the service men and women who discovered Porsches while based in West Germany in the 1950s to the present. If you’re an Air Force pilot or a Naval Aviator, or if there’s one in your family, we’d love to make it part of this story. Photos are key, we’d love some shots of the Porsche and its pilot owner taken with the planes that he or she flew (or flies).

We’re also looking for a really special Cayenne. One that’s been a family member for a long time, a Cayenne that’s been everywhere and done everything. Preferably one with crazy high miles. If you think you might be the owner of that Cayenne and have some great stories to tell, let us know! If so, please contact us below.
