PCA—PCA’s Tech Tactics West event, which happened early this month at Porsche’s training facility in Southern California, had a couple high-profile Porsches in attendance, including the new 911 GT2 RS and the Gunther Werks 400R, a 431-horsepower custom 993.

PCA—Today Porsche Cars North America and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced the race groupings for Rennsport Reunion VI, and started accepting applications. This includes the Porsche Club of America Sholar-Friedman Cup group. The event will be held September 27-30, 2018.
 
PCA—One of the best parts of my job is finding a large stash of Porsche parts and cars, but it can also be one of the worst parts, too. The hardest part is finding those long-lost stashes because they normally aren’t advertised. We finished up a two-truckload deal a couple weekends ago, and while everything was fresh on my mind I wanted to write up a breakdown of what a large deal entails.

Road & Track—The Lamborghini Huracan Performante and Porsche 911 GT2 RS are obvious rivals—both come from competing branches of the Volkswagen Group, and both broke records to become the fastest production cars to ever lap the Nurburgring. And you know what? We're better off for having them both, regardless of which car is quicker.

PCA—​​​​​​​The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the PCA NATIONAL AUTOCROSS program. The logo will be used online, in print, on merchandise, including the need to resize easily and to look good in black and white as well as color. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing. ​​​​​​​Submission deadline has been extended to December 15.

Car and Driver—The greatest pleasure to be found in Porsche’s 982-chassis 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman exists between the edge of grip and the edge of control. It’s a place of pure joy thanks to the sweetest stability-control system in existence—one that lets you look over the edge without actually jumping, but which also never punishes you for doing so.

Petrolicious—When you find a special car—the right year, a desirable color, nicely spec’d, taken care of, you know what I mean—everyone will be quick to tell you how lucky you are. They don’t care how long it took to find nor how many dead-end phone calls were required before you could convince the owner to sell, and they don’t care what price you paid either: deals are “steals,” a fair price is a “bargain,” too much is “what the good ones are worth these days,” and however much it cost you you are most certainly “lucky.”

PCA—​​​​​​​The Executive Council has appointed Ken Hold, Bluegrass Region; Maggie Goodman-Garnett, Kansas City Region; and Ron Gordon, Chesapeake Region as members of the 2017-2019 Nominating Committee. The committee is carrying out its responsibilities in accordance with the Manual of National Policy and Procedures (MNPP) and PCA National Bylaws. Its goal is to consider, identify, and select the best possible slate of candidates to fill the Executive Council officer roles for the 2019-2020 term. As part of this process, the committee actively seeks feedback from PCA’s Regions on those talented individuals who have the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership to serve on the Executive Council. The timing to get suggestions to any member of the committee is no later than December 15, 2017.

Car and Driver—We have rooted for the return of the station wagon in the United States despite the body style’s limited success here in recent decades. While wagons remain popular in Europe, American consumers now embrace slightly taller, rugged-looking hatchbacks (i.e., SUVs) that do essentially the same job. (Although this is increasingly becoming the case even abroad.)

Top Gear—G, T and S are good letters.

Hell yeah. Porsches so labelled are traditionally the best of their respective model lines.

Want a 911? GT-cars and Turbos notwithstanding, you want the GTS. The Macan GTS is good fun too, and so were the last-gen Panamera and Cayenne GTS, with their fantastically unfashionable nat-asp V8 engines, comedy paint schemes (Peridot Green is especially silly) and interiors bedecked with more Alcantara than, erm, a thing with much Alcantara.
 
Car and Driver—Predicting the future of the Porsche 911 is about as easy as forecasting what Coca-Cola will taste like years from now. But for the first time in the model’s 54-year history, the next 911 will finally secure a Coke bottle without spilling it all over the carpet.

Road & Track—Over its 53-year history, Porsche has produced a lot of different 911s. All are excellent sports cars, but for us, some are more special than others. Here, then, are some of the greatest 911 variants of all time, according to you.

Porsche Panorama wants to hear from you!
PCA—The editors of Panorama are working on some stories and they need your help: We’d love to tell the story of the long-time connection between pilots and Porsches. From the service men and women who discovered Porsches while based in West Germany in the 1950s to the present. If you’re an Air Force pilot or a Naval Aviator, or if there’s one in your family, we’d love to make it part of this story. Photos are key, we’d love some shots of the Porsche and its pilot owner taken with the planes that he or she flew (or flies).

We’re also looking for a really special Cayenne. One that’s been a family member for a long time, a Cayenne that’s been everywhere and done everything. Preferably one with crazy high miles. If you think you might be the owner of that Cayenne and have some great stories to tell, let us know! If so, please contact us below.
