PCA—Porsche is in the business of selling vehicles for street use, but one can also say the automaker has been invested in developing street car technology on track longer than anyone. Here’s a glimpse at how Porsche is doing just that with its 919 Hybrid race car.

PCA—Yes, I'll confess. I would like to be the Magnus Walker of Porsche bicycles. To achieve the "Outlaw" moniker you have to do something original and outlandish with outside-the-box thinking - all centered around vintage Porsche hardware. For those not familiar with Mr. Walker's work, he has reached icon status for taking vintage Porsche cars and turning them into unique works of art with stellar performance.
 
Car and Driver—There is no acceptable way to begin a story about 500-plus-horsepower, $200,000 sports cars and include in the first sentence a reference to that class of quasi-­station-wagon family movers known as crossovers.

But hang on. As in the pseudo-off-roader market, sports cars now populate so many strata of the market that they require increasingly specific monikers and modifiers to sort them all out. Used to be, you had your sports cars and your ­regular cars.

Mecum—Porschephiles will have lots to cheer about in August at Mecum Monterey 2016. Road & Track—You probably know the big story for the new Porsche Cayman is the switch from naturally-aspirated flat six power to a turbocharged boxer four – that and the addition of a '718' prefix to the Cayman name to remind downsize deniers that Porsche was winning races aplenty with four-bangers like the 718RSK long before the flat six had come on the scene.

Engineering Explained via YouTube—1. Do not run the engine hard after start-up.

Most people know you should let your engine warm up before running it hard, but many cars only have coolant gauges. Engine oil tends to take longer to heat up, because you don’t have a thermostat like the coolant does, which isolates the coolant in the engine block and regulates its temperature... (Ed.: Please note the vehicle used in the video is not a Porsche, but this advice should be heeded while driving your turbocharged Porsche.)
 
The Drive—​​​​​​​So far, there have been just three generations of the 911 GT2, each more psychotic than the last. Then, with the last car, Porsche introduced the even more thoroughly driver-destroying, pants-wetting 911 GT2 RS. We still tremble. Now, it’s the 991 generation’s time for terror.

MultiBriefs—I largely agree with the adage "You are what you drive." While I don't claim the axiom is bulletproof, there are endless examples that support the theory — from the successful lawyer in a stately German sedan, to a general contractor with a tool-ridden F-250.
 
Top Gear—Two sports cars, but we’ve got supercharged vs twin-turbocharged. V8 vs flat-six. Two-seater vs two-plus-two. No, we’re still not short of fresh air between the Jaguar F-type and Porsche 911.

Car and Driver—​​​​​​​The clock is ticking. In two years or so, we expect to be driving an entirely new Porsche Cayenne. Based on the Volkswagen Group's MLB II platform (which is also under the newest Audi Q7 and the Bentley Bentayga), it will be lighter, quicker, and more carlike than today’s model. But for now—and, given regulatory realities, perhaps forever—the 570-hp Cayenne Turbo S is the ultimate and most excessive variation of the original concept.

Top Speed—The Porsche 911 may be considered as the quintessential Porsche model, but others like the 959 also deserve the “all time” status that they’ve been given. In the case of the 959, it featured some of the most advanced technologies available in the world at that time, and when Porsche was done building it, the model became the fastest street-legal car in the world.

Road & Track—Tuthill Porsche is a world-renowned Porsche rally shop in the United Kingdom. For years the guys at Tuthill have been building race-prepped P-cars to compete on every kind of terrain. They've even homologated a 911 GT3 to participate in the FIA World Rally Championship in Europe. (Ed.: The documentary is nearly 50 minutes, so give yourself some time to watch it.)
 
Jalopnik—The 911 R is a fantasy Porsche, a naturally-aspirated and manual only piece of rolling art in an age of PDK transmissions and ultimate lap times. It also came with a not-too-shabby starting price of $185,000, but collectors are going to collect. Now the ultimate 911 has an asking price of $1.3 million on the used market.

Carscoops—When Porsche unveiled the new 718 Cayman and Boxster duo, many Porsche aficionados feared the naturally aspirated flat-six’s reign was over. However, Porsche still has an ace up its sleeve.
 
Car—1. Yep, it’s quick.

There’s only so much to be gleaned from a passenger ride, but a couple of laps around the Lausitzring did reveal a few things about the Panamera Turbo. Firstly, this is a massively composed chassis for such a big car, and it feels very rear-biased but with masses of grip and traction – you could feel our professional driver getting on the power incredibly early, and the front end didn’t seem the least bit interested in understeering...

August Achleitner, the man responsible for developing the German brand's 911 and 718 sports cars admits he is open to the concept, but doesn't see a market for it anytime soon.

Automotive News—Many manufacturers buy cars from other makers to benchmark while they are developing a new vehicle. Honda was no different when it was developing the Ohio-built Acura NSX. One of its purchases was the highly regarded Porsche 911 GT3, bought to assess its steering, vehicle dynamics project leader Nick Robinson told Automotive News.
 
PCA—Described as a museum springing to life, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, and is the only event where cars are doing what they were originally intended to do…race. Approximately 550 race cars are invited to compete in the world’s premier motoring event, and are accepted based on the car’s authenticity, race provenance and period correctness. Car corral tickets are sold out, but bring your Porsche key and/or member card for access to hospitality tent.
