PCA—PCNA President and CEO Klaus Zellmer told us over a year ago that Rennsport Reunion VI (RRVI) was already scheduled for 2018, but wouldn’t give any other details. Well, it’s official now: The sixth Rennsport Reunion will remain at Laguna Seca and will be held September 27-30, 2018. PCA will take part in and help facilitate the festivities as it has in past Rennsport gatherings.

PCA—In collector car vernacular, a “pickled” car is an example kept obsessively like new with freakishly low miles. Whether the owner intended the car to be an investment or simply used it as a contemplative object rather than an automobile, pickled cars are an interesting phenomenon in the collector car world. Not surprisingly, there are a number on offer at the Pebble Beach auctions later this week. Here are five that caught our eye.
PCA—Get ready for Werks Reunion Monterey once again, the premiere Porsche show during Monterey Car Week. Porsche Factory Driver Patrick Long will be a guest speaker. Michelin will bring three competition Porsches driven by Jeff Zwart: 1992 964 Carrera 4 rally car, 2002 GT2 Pikes Peak car, and 2010 GT3 Cup Pikes Peak car. Free admission for spectators. Please note the new location at Corral de Tierra Country Club.

PCA—In 2016, PCA Club Racing added two new programs to complement the traditional program that’s been going strong since 1992: GT4 Clubsport Trophy East and Vintage classes.

With several PCA Club Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East races on the 2017 calendar and four race weekends supporting the vintage classes, we decided to highlight a recent weekend at Monticello Motor Club. It was the first time both of the new programs had been held at the same time.

Car and Driver—Reinhold Niebuhr was on to something when he prayed for the serenity to accept the things he could not change and the courage to change the things he could. Consider this Porsche Macan S, for example, a vehicle we awarded accolades as the top compact-luxury SUV among our 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2017.

Petrolicious—A collection of vintage Porsches isn’t something one expects to discover on some tropical island in Southeast Asia. You might believe someone when they tell you, but you aren’t likely to stumble across something like this. Tucked away on the side of a woodsy hill in Cebu, part of the Visayas chain of islands and an hour’s flight from the Philippines’ capital Metro Manila, is one man’s trove of air-cooled treasure.

Road & Track—California's Singer Vehicle Design is well-known around these parts for providing lavish attention to the Porsche 911s it restores, but this, man, is something else. The company announced today that it's collaborating with Williams Advanced Engineering—yes that Williams—on a modified air-cooled, 4.0-liter naturally aspirated Porsche flat-six that makes 500 horsepower.

Motor Trend—Purists thought Porsche was committing sacrilege when it announced the Panamera four-door back in 2009, but many eventually got over it and probably even bought one. Now in its second generation, the Panamera benefits from an updated look and a laundry list of technical improvements. But is it the car Porsche should’ve built? Jonny Lieberman ventures to find out on this episode of Ignition.

MultiBriefs—How would you define a great race car?

Winning races and championship titles is the most obvious place to start. But if those factors were solely the basis for my choice, the 908 probably wouldn't make the list.

Motor1—Porsche Exclusive will fulfill any desire for its clients, but the customization comes at a cost – sometimes quite a high one. For example, the German sports car maker’s bespoke production division recently completed a 911 Turbo S in a unique color called Python Green Chromaflair.

AMMO NYC via YouTube—On this episode, we discuss how to strip paint from your car in the most effective and efficient method. FYI: This is pretty painful to watch. The preparation process before painting is just as important as the actually spraying of paint. The car will only look as good as the metal, sanding, and prepping will allow. This is a glimpse behind the scenes of how to prepare your car to accept a concours paint job.

Motor1—Porsche celebrates the 40th birthday of the 928 grand tourer at the Nürburgring’s AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix by pulling some unique examples out of the archives. In addition to showing a newly restored example of the V8-powered coupe, the company brought the four-door and convertible concepts for the 928.

Jalopnik—Porsche has settled a class action lawsuit out of court from a bunch of owners claiming they had to go and buy polarized sunglasses because the dashboard trim in their car was blinding in sunlight. Owners with the affected cars can get up to $175 in compensation. This is all hilariously insane.

Road & Track—The Porsche 991.1 GT3, built from model year 2014 to 2016, got off to a rough start—engine fire risks sidelined the first 785 cars delivered, forcing Porsche to replace all of their engines. Then, some GT3 owners began noticing misfires at high RPMs, leading a US group of "concerned owners" to send a letter to Porsche executives to talk about the problems they were experiencing.

The Smoking Tire via YouTube—This 1970 Porsche 911T has a story as great as it gets: father buys car in period and races it, son keeps the legend going with a functional restoration featuring a later 3.2L Engine, Upgraded period-style suspension, and just enough body and interior work to make it roadworthy.

Motor Trend—Class of 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Yes keyboardist Geoff Downes was driving a beat-up old Ford Escort wagon when he did session work, because it could fit his electric piano and other items. But then “Video Killed the Radio Star” topped the charts, and he could afford a proper rock star car in 1980, well before the hit helped launch a cable network called MTV.

Road & Track—Porsche's Carrera Cup might not be a pro-level series like Formula One or IMSA, but it's still exciting to watch. Every 911 GT3 on the grid is mechanically identical, making for some truly great battles and extremely close racing. This in-car video taken during a test session on track is just a glimpse into what upper-level spec racing is like. Spoiler: it's really fun.

Porsche of the Week
Photo by Johan Carnell. Upper Canada Region. “Here is a photo of my recently completed build fondly referred to as the RST (Real Sweet Turbo). It is a ‘78 backdated to a longhood with all modern conveniences, a gutsy 3.4-liter turbo flat six, and telltale 934-based exhaust. A blast of a ride.”
