PCA—A trip to Nova Scotia had been on my bucket list for a while. The idea was born after watching the Targa Newfoundland on TV (near, but not in, Nova Scotia), and when I realized I didn’t have the time, the money, or the skills to participate, I thought the Canadian maritime province would be a nice road trip destination.

Porsche Newsroom—Fifty years after Porsche’s first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the Porsche GT Team fielded two 911 RSR this weekend at the long distance classic in Florida. The racer with the starting number 912, driven by two-time overall Le Mans winner Earl Bamber (New Zealand), Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy), finished sixth in the strongly supported GTLM class. The second 911 RSR with the starting number 911, in which Patrick Pilet (France), Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France) led the field at one point in the first third of the race, took the flag in eighth. Two pit stops for repairs after leaving the track in the Bus Stop chicane hampered a top result.

Petrolicious—This week we head a few hours north of our Los Angeles HQ to catch up with Bruce Canepa and one of his Porsche 959s. It’s one of the rarest cars to wear the company’s crest, but he’s certainly no stranger to the thing—after spending over a decade trying to find the legal loopholes necessary to put one on the road in the United States, one tends to form a bond, become familiar.

Car and Driver—We’ve proclaimed to have found the sweet spot of Porsche’s 911 lineup so many times that it’s starting to lose its meaning. Or maybe Porsche keeps finding sweeter spots. This 911 in Targa 4 GTS trim with a manual transmission certainly is vying for our utmost affection.

Road & Track—Air-cooled 911s sound great on their own, but this supercharged all-wheel drive 964 safari rally car is on a completely different level. Please, take a listen

Jalopnik—The 996-generation Porsche 911 was a break from tradition. Not air-cooled, not overbuilt, not right, at least if you listen to the hardcore Porsche enthusiasts. And the car’s original brochure from the end of the ’90s reads like Porsche knew that a backlash was coming. They knew it.

Motor Trend—Porsche launched the last manual-roof Boxster Spyder back in 2015, just before the Cayman and Boxster adopted the new 718 nomenclature and new turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engines. Thus, the Boxster Spyder was sort of a last hurrah for the six-cylinder mid-engine cars, receiving lots of goodies from the 911 and Cayman GT4 parts bins. Now, as these spy shots show, Porsche is bringing the Boxster Spyder back—likely with flat-six power once again.

The Drive—We know all too well how much prices for vintage Porsche 911 models have skyrocketed in recent years. Seven figure price tags have turned them into shiny baubles for an elite few—but consider this barn find 1965 Porsche 912 set to be auctioned by Sotheby's next week an alternative path to joining their ranks.

Road & Track—Porsche has built SUVs for nearly 20 years, yet people still complain about them. They complain that they aren't real Porsches and that they tarnish the brand. Yet, without SUVs, these people likely wouldn't be talking about Porsche in the present tense.

The Truth About Cars—Porsche threw a party at its museum on Thursday, marking and celebrating 70 years of sports cars. The first vehicle to bear the Porsche name was registered on June 8, 1948 – a 356 “No.1” Roadster. With it, Ferry Porsche’s dream of a sports car turned into a reality.

Jalopnik—Oszkar Bacsi told me that every time he goes out in his heavily modified 1969 Porsche 912 Slantnose, he wonders if he’ll come back in one piece. Not exactly the most comforting thing to hear while riding shotgun up a worn out canyon road at dusk, but I understood why he said it.

The Drive—Despite significant performance improvements to automatics in the past couple of decades, the manual transmission is still the weapon of choice for car enthusiasts, but most will make an exception for one specific auto-shifting gearbox—the Porsche PDK. Known for its seamless and lightning-quick shifts, the PDK is revered as the gold standard by which all dual-clutch transmissions should be measured.

Petrolicious—My first Porsche was a 2009 Cayman dressed in Midnight Blue Metallic — dark as a starless sky and absolutely stunning on delivery. I never thought a car could look that good, but keeping it that way presented a real challenge. I barely got my new car home from the dealer and into the garage before dust and dirt began to accumulate on every surface.

Motor Trend—Our spy photographers have caught the next-generation Porsche 911 Turbo testing for the first time wearing its production body. Expected to debut sometime this year, the next generation of Porsche’s iconic sports car will feature an evolutionary exterior design and feature some new elements that should help differentiate it from the car it replaces.

Autoblog—Ruf and Singer have been honing their products for years, developing instantly recognizable products with a character all their own. But Gunther Werks is the new kid in town, with a different vision — to create an air-cooled 911 GT3 RS with modern tech, using a Porsche 993 Carrera 2, the final iteration of the original air-cooled 911 as the starting point. An ambitious goal, and we're here in Southern California to see if Gunther Werks can deliver.

Jalopnik—Lego’s Speed Champions line of sets already has an impressive roster of classic and contemporary race cars like the Bugatti Chiron and the original Ford GT40. According to Lego enthusiast site The Brothers Brick, Lego has expanded their garage to include at least nine new models.

Automobile—A new 911 should mean revamps for the 718 Cayman/Boxster. But with demand for compact sports cars in free fall, Porsche is rethinking the future of its mid-engine two-seaters.

Motor Trend—As Porsche prepares to introduce the Mission E in 2019, it’s naturally looking to bolster its technology in the EV space as well. In an interview conducted with Porsche, Uwe Michael, head of electrics and electronics, talks about the direction of batteries and ways the brand will improve the charging experience on high-performance electrified vehicles of the future.

Porsche of the Week
Photo by John Masella. Rennsport Region. "Here’s a picture of my Forest Green Metallic 1999 Boxster. I snapped the photo late in the afternoon with my iPhone 5s not far from my home. This old Texaco service station seemed the perfect backdrop for my green machine. I purchased this car in 2004 when I was living in Chicago and then joined PCA's Central Indiana Region. I'm also a member of the PCA Boxster Register. In 2011, we moved back home to Montreal and became part of the Rennsport Region. We’ve attended two parades so far … Hershey and French Lick."
