Autoblog—Since it joined the Porsche lineup, the Cayman has always been the hardtop coupe counterpart to the Boxster, but for 2017, this relationship has been cemented with a common numerical name, 718. The modifier comes from a race car that competed in the late 1950s and '60s, and like its modern namesakes, granddad was powered by a four-cylinder engine.

Autoblog—With the sun setting over Circuit of the Americas, the magnificent new Ford GT Le Mans racecar roars, snarls, and pops as the driver lifts going into a series of chicanes flanked by broad red, white, and blue stripes. A bald eagle flies overhead. Maybe. It's quite the spectacle. But it's all rather put to shame when a four-cylinder Porsche blitzes past the GT at full throttle as if it was a rental Mustang that took a wrong turn out of the nearby Austin, Texas, airport.

Motor1—The recently introduced second-gen Panamera is based on Porsche’s new MSB platform, which we already know will underpin a long wheelbase derivative of the sedan. In addition, a wagon is due at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and is going to be called “Sport Turismo” after the namesake concept from 2012. The lineup will likely grow in the years to come with the addition of a Panamera Coupe to act as a spiritual successor of the 928.

After a sensational overall victory for the Porsche North America works team at the prestigious ten-hour race in 2015, which earned Porsche the championship titles for manufacturers, drivers and teams, the Porsche 911 RSR missed out on a podium result at its last works-entry race.

The Drive—The air-cooled Porsche and the barn find: Two flavors of automobile that tend to get under people’s skin. It’s easy to see why. The former recalls a great brand’s greatest virtues, equal parts simplicity and exceptionalism; the latter, a combination of buried treasure and well-worn authenticity. So this one from RM Sotheby’s is bound to get a rise of just about anybody.
 
Motor1—Speaking at the launch of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid in Paris last week, Porsche’s CEO Oliver Blume revealed the Stuttgart-based marque is thinking of a high-performance hybrid version of its all-new sedan. The model is expected to get the company’s newly developed biturbo 4.0-liter V8 from the Turbo version where it develops 542 horsepower (404 kilowatts) and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-meters) of torque.

Porsche—Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman sports cars, Macan and Cayenne SUVs, and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up in the United States, today announced an all-time September sales record of 4,479 vehicles.
 
Top Gear—It’s all very well having an electric car that’ll go 300 miles or more between charges. And many of the cars from this year’s Paris Motor Show are supposed to do that, as well as upcoming production metal such as the Porsche Mission E and Audi Q6 eTron. But what happens when it finally runs flat? The more capacity the battery has to begin with, the more – read longer – recharging it’ll need. Unless of course, the charger is blazingly powerful.
