PCA—Today Porsche announced the Touring Package for the 911 GT3, which exclusively pairs a six-speed manual transmission and an incognito Carrera-style retractable rear spoiler — think 911R — to the track-focused sports car.

Motor Trend Channel via YouTube—On this episode of Ignition presented by Tire Rack, Jonny Lieberman goes for a drive in his friend Derek Powell’s Porsche Cayman GT4. Why? Because Lieberman suspects the new Cayman S, in typical Porsche fashion, is just as capable as the top dog from the previous iteration of the mid-engine two-seater.

Petrolicious—The idea to customize an old 911 came up in 2013 when I went to my Porsche mechanic’s workshop to bring another car in for winter parking. It was then that I saw an old rusty 2.4-liter F-series and started thinking about how to rebuild it, to make it a bit sportier and cooler looking without being just another restoration of a vintage Porsche.

Motor1—Porsche only built 161 road-going examples of the 993-generation 911 GT2, and as the ultimate evolution of the final air-cooled models, they have started to command quite a hefty sum on the second-hand market. For example, RM Sotheby’s just sold the gorgeous black example above for 775,625 pounds ($1,015,750 at current exchange rates).

The Truth About Cars—This season’s must-have fashion for high-end automakers is the proposed elimination of diesel-powered engines. Volvo may keep theirs, but only if they’re supplemented by an electrified unit after 2019, and the same is true for both Jaguar and Land Rover. Mercedes-Benz hasn’t been quite so overt about its own diesel death, but it is pressing aggressively toward mild hybrids.
