Submissions from Readers

So tell me… how are your gourds?  I provided lots of information for painting them last week.  Did you find it useful?  Or maybe I inspired you to try painting one.

I know some folks were inspired.  I heard from lots of folks.  They were thanking me for the advice and for the how-to's.  Awww shucks!  You're welcome

A few folks even sent in pictures.  Here are a couple of painted gourd photos sent in by readers just like you.

Thank you Joyce for sharing your Santa painting.  I love the grey suit!!!  It's a wonderful design and you've done a great job.

And, thanks Betty for sending in this cute snowman.  Love the ear muffs!!!

Now, isn't that fun?  By the way, if you're looking for a trustworthy place to shop for dried gourds you might enjoy this.

Painted Light Bulb

Do you know what decorative painters love to paint on?   Anything that stands still long enough.

And know what we're very clever at?  Re-purposing and up-cycling stuff most people would throw away.

And so it goes with old burned out light bulbs.  The shape is great for painting Santas and snowmen.

Check out the step-by-step tutorial for painting this Santa ornament.  It was designed by my dear friend, Jodi Clerke.

You know I love to hear from you.  So would you mind doing me a big favor?

When you visit the page with the tutorial please go to the bottom of the page and make a comment.  I love it when you do that.

And you can always reply to this email and send me your thoughts as well.  I love it when you do that too.  :-)

Oh, and if you don't have old light bulbs?  The pattern would go well on a small dried gourd too or even a wooden ornament...  Just have fun with it!

Quick Update

The painted poppy project!  I haven't forgotten about it… I promise.

I was getting ready to shoot the last video.  Then it happened.  The technology gremlins got involved.

What did they do?  They did what gremlins do.  They threw a technical challenge at us.  That challenge has delayed me from bringing you the last video in the series.

But don’t worry.  As soon as things are back on track, I'll wrap up the last of the painted poppy.

If you haven't seen the poppy project you can find it here.

Throw Back Thursday!

It was about 10 years ago as I recall.  I got a call to paint murals for a little girl.  Of course I took it on.   How could I refuse?  It turned out to be a fun project to create.  And it’s fun to share it with you as well.

It's a lighthearted mural for a little girl's private play area.  It was her quiet place under the stairs.  It was so much fun to put it together.  And best of all, my client was thrilled with the results.

You can see it here

Oh, the thinks you can think up
