How to safely publish your contact information on LinkedIn. The best LinkedIn Profile will not be very useful to you without contact information readily available for recruiters and other
members of your network. If you cannot be easily reached, they move on. Opportunities evaporate, and you will never know.
When recruiters find someone who is qualified, they want to contact that person ASAP. More than one recruiter has told me that their preferred contact information is a phone number, but an email address is the absolute minimum. If recruiters (and probably potential clients/customers) cannot easily contact you, they move on to the next Profile.

You might be all "settled in" using LinkedIn – updating your Profile, gaining new Connections, researching companies, applying to jobs, and being consistently active with LinkedIn Status Updates and publishing articles on LinkedIn Pulse.
But did you think of using it to research your competition? You can bet that a good percentage of LinkedIn users are there for the same purpose as you – finding their next choice job, or trying to catch the attention of recruiters. Who does "your job" for your target employers? What job titles do they have (keywords)? What are their qualifications –
skills, schools, certifications, accomplishments (keywords)? How are they presenting themselves in their LinkedIn Profile (keywords) and LinkedIn activities?
You NEVER want to copy someone else's Profile (bad ethics, bad practice, and bad SEO)! But you do want to see what you can learn about making your professionalism and your personal brand clear, as described in this article by LinkedIn expert Laura Smith-Proulx.

When you know what your personal brand is all about and you’ve written brand-reinforcing content (for your resume, LinkedIn profile, and other career materials) to support your good-fit candidacy, the smartest strategy is to get busy (or busier) on LinkedIn, taking advantage of at least some of the many brand-building opportunities this important job search networking site offers.
