Networking is the most effective way to find a new position, and LinkedIn has made networking easier. People are bombarded by messages, so consider how to get your message noticed and
answered.
People usually respond much better when you ask for advice rather than asking for a job. And advice can be very useful.
Carefully choose who you approach. Focus on someone who works for one of your target employers or, someone who works for a target employer whom you already know or who you have a connection to. Reach out via email using the 4 sample messages in this article by Don Goodman.

When thinking about reinventing and changing your career, there is no perfect approach for everyone. There are many routes to take, and more than one might work for you.
Rather than leaving your current job and jumping into a new field without knowing if it will be a good fit for you, some "hands-on" experience should give you insight into whether or not the new career is, or could be, a good fit for you.
The key in this step of the process is to "craft some experiments" and try out different possibilities to see how they feel to you. Gain clarity without necessarily quitting your job. As the old saying goes, "Look before you leap."

Thinking about making a career change, but worried that doing so might mean a slide down the corporate ladder and/or a huge pay cut?
Making a successful change without taking several steps back requires a great deal of extra legwork in the form of research and networking. With research, due diligence, a powerful network and a persuasive value statement it is doubtful you’ll need to go back to square one.
