Update…
The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches
Jack McElroy Ministry Correspondent March 27, 2018
This classic marketing headline was also the title of a book published in 1973 by a man named Joe Karbo, the son of a Russian Jewish immigrant.
In it, he reveals the secrets
that gained him a net worth in excess of $10 million ($56 million today).
He sold over 3 million copies of
his book without it ever being available in a bookstore.
The book claimed to give readers “everything in the
world you really want.” I’ll tell you his secrets in a minute but first… But there’s one caveat for Christians. We need to be “rich toward God.” But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:20-21 That’s because one of these days we’re all going to be summoned to appear before the King to give an account of how we invested the assets the Lord has put in our charge. How you can be rich toward God
The Lord said… Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth… But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven Matthew 6:19-20
Consider this:
The best treasure you can possibly lay up for yourself in heaven is souls.
An immortal soul is worth more than the whole world according to the Lord Jesus Christ who said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Real riches and treasures are the precious souls for whom our Lord
died
Imagine how happy you’ll be to meet all the people that are in heaven because of your efforts to win them to the Lord whether it’s by prayer, witnessing or giving.
And speaking of giving…
A few months ago, I wrote a letter to you explaining…
How you can win a soul for less than $12... I proved how this is doable
because Peoples Baptist Summer Ministry teams went out last year and saw over 12,000 come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. I divided the cost to send them out by the 12,000 souls and it came out to the insanely low cost of less than $12 each.
Incredible.
A new window of opportunity
Fast forward to
today.
Now you have the same opportunity this summer to reach thousands of souls through this ministry.
Instead of going home for summer break (which in India starts at the end of March), many of their
students and all faculty members (it’s a requirement for faculty) serve with evangelistic teams, traveling throughout India to reach many for Christ. A Summer Ministry Outreach Team
This practical fieldwork helps the students and faculty members to keep involved in fulfilling The Great Commission by winning souls,
establishing Bible believing churches, and grounding disciples in the faith.
This year, we have 65 teams
consisting of five students and one faculty member or pastor for each team.
Even as I write this Brother G.S. is sending out the Summer Ministry Teams that will:
- Invite people to gospel meetings through door-to-door evangelism.
- Hand out tens of thousands of tracts.
- Hold street meetings, Bible studies, and cottage meetings.
- Preach, sing, and give testimonies at evangelistic meetings.
- Deal one-on-one with inquirers, leading them to Christ.
- Do follow-up work that results in Bible studies, baptism of new converts, and establishing new churches.
About 250,000 tracts were given out in the summer of 2017. 50,000 were provided by Chick
Publications (www.chick.com); 10,000 each in five different Indian languages. And
they’re graciously donating another 50,000 this year.
And they do all this in your stead––As your representatives in India.
Although you can’t be there to help them, you can send them out and sustain them in the work. That means whatever treasure (souls) they reach for the Lord count to your account just as much as the men who do the work.
If this opportunity is something you feel the Lord would have you to take part in, then consider how many lives you can change…
An investment of: $12 covers the cost to bring 1 precious soul to Christ. $24 covers the cost to 2 bring
souls to Christ. $120 covers the cost to bring 10 souls to Christ. $1,200 covers the cost to bring 100 souls to Christ. $12,000 covers the cost to bring
1,000 souls to Christ. $120,000 covers the cost to bring 10,000 souls to Christ. $168,000 covers the cost to bring 14,000 souls to Christ.
As you consider this opportunity, keep this in mind…
God is no man’s debtor You’ll get more than you give. It sounds counter intuitive but it’s true
because of all the promises the Lord gives us in his word.
When I first got saved in the late 70’s, I took to heart a few verses that have stuck with me and I’ve proved--by experience-- to be true.
Moreover, they prove why you can never go broke giving unto the Lord:
#1. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:38
#2. Honour the LORD with
thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:10
#3. Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1
#4. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold
now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Mark 10: 29-30
#5. He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Proverbs 19:17
Large Gospel Meeting in Assam State
And how about these
gems:
…God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his
bread to the poor. Proverbs 22:9
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed… Proverbs 22:9
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs
11:25 Before I finish, here are Joe Karbo’s secrets as promised.
He called his system Dyna/Psyc (dynamic + psychology/mind) which focused on goal-setting.
1. Write down
exactly what you want (i.e. what’s your goal). Most people work hard but not smart because they have no real goals.
Once you have CLEAR goals things will fall into place with less effort. This is the essence of the “lazy way.” But you still have to do work. You have to RSVP - read, study, visualize, perform.
Interestingly, Karbo didn’t like being lazy. “The idea of being lazy is appealing, but doing it, or rather not doing anything, is not my idea of a way to
pass the time,” he said.
(No one gets rich without work. It’s just that they do a different kind of work).
2. Create new beliefs about yourself as confident, effective, and energetic (i.e. create a new self-image).
3. Make decisions by listing pros and cons on a sheet of paper and then sleep on it.
Ask your ‘unconscious computer’ to solve the problem for you. Give it a definite time frame, e.g., “By 4 o’clock tomorrow I will know exactly what to do about…’ If it’s a really big issue, give the computer more time.
Then, just forget about the problem altogether. How do you know when you have the answer? You will just ‘know’ – it will pop into
your head during the day or when you wake up.”
4. When you get the answer, act on it.
5. Create a direct-response marketing company and learn to write great advertisements. He promotes direct-response marketing as a career because “it’s one of the last areas where a little guy can get a start, live where he pleases, work where he wants.”
But the sad part about Joe Karbo was that for all his earthly success, as far as I know, he lost his own soul.
He died of a heart attack
in 1983 at age 55 during a local-TV interview. Joe and Betty Karbo circa
1975 Photo: www.infomarketingblog.com Joe Karbo laid up a lot of treasure for himself on earth... and left it all
behind.
And finally…
I know of no other ministry that effectively and efficiently reaches souls and plants churches the way that Peoples Baptist Summer Ministries does.
Brother G. S. has already sent the teams out
BY FAITH so this is an acutely time sensitive need. By supporting this
ministry, you now have the extraordinary power to change many people’s lives and store up “for yourself” living treasures in heaven.
Your Brother in Christ, Jack
McElroy P.S. How many
living treasures would you like to “store up” today?
