Music Group of the Week

A weekly newsletter highlighting a different the band each week.

Issue 2, Foo Fighters

Imagine it's 1994, you’re 24 years old, the drummer in the most popular band in the world, and your band’s guitarist, singer and songwriter commits suicide. What would you do?

If you’re Dave Grohl, you go on to create an even more successful, long living, sustainable band, Foo Fighters. I love that Foo Fighters have found a way to bridge the gap between rock and roll, pop music, and sustainability. They've been touring for about 20 years with little to no drama!

Until next week, enjoy.

Regardless of what you actually think about the Foo Fighters, or their music, one thing is undeniable.  Dave Grohl is a rock and roll god, and rightly deserves to act like it.  Here are three reasons why.

Chances are that you've heard an acoustic version of "Everlong" before. This is the original version. Rumors are that Dave Grohl wasn't even prepared to play it and just winged it on the fly.

If it wasn't cool enough that Dave Grohl's leg injury didn't keep the band down, but that he built this throne for performances!?!?

1000 musicians play Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters to ask Dave Grohl to come and play in Cesena, Italy. It is awesome.
If you could only buy one more Foo Fighters album, this is the one to buy. It’s a live album and each song is a combination of acoustic and electric/full band. It’s somewhere between unplugged, and full blown electric. My favorite track from this is “My Hero.”
