Best Shadow Colors for Over 40 Eyes:

As we age our eyes tend to look smaller and more sunken. The skin droops and gets crepey. You already know not to use metallic and heavily sparkly shadows, but do you know to stay away from dark shadows?

The browns, blues, greys you may have used in the past will just make you look more tired now.

What to choose instead?

Stick to light-colored matte or semi-sheen (not sparkly) shadows like pink, yellow, green, grey, lavender, etc. You can use beige and taupe vs. dark brown. Sweep these across the eyes, add non-black liner and mascara.

Put a dot of light shimmery powder or stick in the corner of you eye and blend to really open up your eyes and make them look brighter!

No, these colors are too shimmery
and will make you eyes recede.

Lighter, neutral colors with eyeliner and
well-groomed brows are more youthful!

Best shadow to use?

Look for those with anti-aging properties, no talc (will look chalky) and either matte or just a hint of shimmer, which will make you eyes glow and catch the light.

An illuminator is a veil of light coverage that will help you eye area appear brighter and more youthful. There are a few on the market:
