Dear , You may be aware that I use Aweber to manage my subscriber list and deliver emails to you and my other subscribers. Aweber is one of the most trusted and popular autoresponders and used by thousands of online marketers. Today I received notice that their system was compromised and some email addresses were captured by a group who send out spam emails. They also inform me that no other personal information was obtained by the spammers and that the Aweber system is not being used to deliver the bad email. What does that mean for you? I have not been notified by any of my subscribers that they are receiving bad emails that look like they are coming from me or are being addressed to them thru an email address which they use exclusively for my emails. So it is possible that none of my subscribers were affected. However, you most likely receive email from a number of marketers who do use Aweber and thus you may have received some of the spam emails. What should you do? You should treat the emails like any other spam you receive by marking them as junk or reporting them to your ISP. If you have a special email address just for certain subscriber lists, you could obtain another new email address and update your email and then delete the original address. All Aweber users have a link in every email that allows you to update your information or unsubscribe. Please know that I am very sensitive to this issue and hope you have not experienced a deluge of bad emails. This situation occurred about a week ago, so if you have not been affected so far, you probably won't be. Thanks again for being a Bonus Blog subscriber. Please let me know if you have any concerns.
