I hope this finds you well... and smiling... I'm smiling, home after more than two months on the road teaching in five countries and being reminded what an amazing planet we live on... and it's amazing mostly because it's populated by so many beautiful people. Everywhere I go humans step up to shine and in so doing, I am being asked to shine. Once on this trip it was the 14 year-old in the South Coast of Australia who showed me courage of heart when he revealed such deep pain about his estranged Dad and worked through it with me in such a brilliant and thoughtful way... Another time it was a sweet man in Bali who said he "saw" me and took me in to meet his family and before I knew it, I was dressed in traditional sarongs and was part of a four-hour ceremony for Nyepi, the Balinese Hindu New Year. Yet another experience of human spirit this trip was in Seoul, Korea where I was gifted a limo and a driver by a brilliant inventor as she wanted me to enjoy this beautiful city and see enough of it in the short time I was there. I could go on and on because as you know, sometimes just a chance smile by a monk in a temple or a hug by a stranger is a miracle and a reminder for us to open our heart to the magic of being alive.
In this month's section on our Qigong Study Trips, I share a bit about an 80 year-old participant who experienced a life-changing healing. This is another window into the amazing aspect of the human spirit. How many times do I see people break out of their limitations and beliefs and courageously "heal"... shifting a lifetime of habituation and allowing the miracle of our human potential to shine and express itself. I know how these Study & Healing Trips can shake a person out of their stagnation and inspire transformation, I've seen it so many times... and each time I am taught so much and feel so blessed to be part of the unfolding in some small way...
...and every time I get to experience one of these moments I am humbled. When that 14-year-old showed such wisdom and courage, I really felt I had so much to learn. When I sat with an eclectic group of new Thai friends socializing in a late-night club, I saw how "real" they were, how authentic and in their power they were. This group was a family-tight bunch of friends that included a VERY diverse range of ages, personalities, sexual preferences, and socio-economic positions... but EVERYONE was equal at the table... I watched how there was no judgment or hierarchy; each person was in their truth and everyone accepted each other for who they were inside. Being accepted as the only non-Thai and included for the many hours we shared was a blessing that touched my heart.
So what constitutes a "spiritual experience" anyway? Does it have to look like meditation, or Qigong? Does it require some high-level Master or guru? Sometimes the best "temple" may look like a night club... and the "guru" may be 14 years old. Are you committed to being open to allowing this to happen in your life? How many times do we limit our opportunities by holding the belief that healing or spiritual growth needs to happen a certain way?
I learned that in the Thai language, the word for "work" (ngarn) is the same word that they use for "festivity" - What a nice reminder of how things should be. Imagine if when we went to "work" we thought of it the same way we put effort into preparing for a festival? Imagine if we looked at our spiritual "work" in a more festive way? Fun reminders to keep opening our minds and hearts and awakening to our potential...
World Tai Chi Qigong Day (WTCQD) is upon us this Saturday 27 April. I have recently been in communication with Bill Douglas, the creator of this wonderful event, and we laughed remembering when we were together the day so many years ago when he came up with the idea for this global event and discussed how important it was to include Qigong in it. People around the world celebrate their personal practice in groups and it is so inspiring to see how organizers get their local leaders to acknowledge this day to bring Tai Chi and Qigong into the mainstream. Thank you Bill - and everyone who does their part to support this effort. Daisy and I will be having our gathering of Qigong students here on Kaua'i and will send out joyful Qi here in one of the final time zones as WTCQD dances around the planet on the 27th - WorldTaiChiDay.org...
Thanks for reading the updates below, including the exciting Qigong Study Trips to China and Bali this year... and our new online CommunityAwake.com that I created to help you be better informed about our Trips and communicate with other members who are traveling or considering to travel. There's also lots more at this evolving site and I'm always trying my best to offer new and creative ways for us all to connect...
May your Qigong practice deepen and shine in all you do.
Our Thailand Qigong Study & Healing Trip 2013
is over and our group is now home as I type... After 16 years of leading these
Trips, I am constantly reminded why I do it... Personal Health Transformation.
To see what can happen in two short weeks to someone when they are ready
to take responsibility for their health and well-being is literally amazing.
Daisy and I watched a member of our group with advanced spinal scoliosis
straighten her neck after decades of unsuccessful treatments by Western
practitioners. We saw participants let go of holdings that were keeping them
from realizing their potential... and now they are shining. We saw
everyone in the group get some insight that will forever change the way they
look at themselves. That's why I keep leading these Trips... I thank each
and every person who came on this Thailand Trip for their courage and
I am honored by the hundreds of people who have joined
our new online community which helps us manage our Qigong Study &
Healing Trips. That link above will take you to a new service I created
where you can sign up to be informed about our Trips to Asia. As a free
Member, we will keep everyone informed and you can access our itineraries as
they become available. So click here to sign up... we think you'll
like the service which will grow over time - so help that happen by blogging
and taking our surveys. I'd love to see blogs by those who have been on
our Qigong Study & Healing Trips in the past!
The China Qigong Study & Healing Trip to
visit and study with the renowned Master Wan in Beijing, China is going to be a
wonderful healing journey... and the itinerary is now available at CommunityAwake.com
Daisy and I will be leading the trip September 16 - 30, 2013 and it will be
very focused on Medical Qigong training from a personal and healing
perspective. To have hands-on training with a world renowned Master such as Wan
Sujian is a real gift. We've led these trips EVERY year since the mid-1990s and
2012 was the first year we took a break... but with many people interested in
visiting this amazing country, we will bring a group again this year.
Master Wan and I have decided to take our group to an ancient Taoist
village to meet one of his old Masters that has only recently been opened f or
visitors and neither of us has visited it, so it should be a great experience
for all. There is still space but it is filling fast.
Our Qigong Study & Healing Trip to Bali in
October 2013 is nearly at capacity so if you are interested, please let me know
asap. I will keep this trip to 15 people as I have found some
fabulous facilities that are small and intimate, which will make this Trip a
special one. Let me know if you want to join this beautiful journey!
This unique Qigong Healing Trip from October 10 - 22
is a creative deviation from those I have designed over the many years of
leading over 500 people to Asia on journeys of transformation. We are
weaving the wisdom of ancient China with the healing magic of Bali and the
spirit of her people. If you've always wanted to go to Bali, this is
going to be a great way to get there. We will be training in Qigong at places
sacred to the Hindu Balinese and staying in both mountain villages and right on
pristine beaches - with Qigong sessions at sacred water temples and at sunrise
on top of an extinct volcano... and like all our trips, we will received
personal healing treatments and in-depth Qigong training classes each day.
I have even arranged for each participant to receive a private healing
with an amazing indigenous healer on this trip. This empowering adventure is
designed to transform and wake up our energetic potential... is it time for you
to be among the first 15 people who sign up?
Whether it is to develop your own personal skills or
to strengthen your healthcare professional offerings, these trips give you
something that others can sense once you return. We also provide
certificates for professionals who can benefit from continuing education
hours... and since our trips are fund raisers for our non-profit Kahuna
Valley organization, 60% of your cost is totally tax deductible, sanctioned by
the IRS so take advantage of this saving.

The RLWQ program is an empowering Qigong that can help

Qigong Practice Hint of the Month
Aloha! This month's "hint" relates to
pressure points - otherwise known as "accupressure points" and I will
feature one now and will continue with more in future issues of Breathe Deep.
Place your right hand on your right knee and allow
your middle finger to land naturally below and to the outside right of your
knee. Feel for the bifurcation of where the two bones in your lower leg
(Tibia and Fibula) just meet the knee. Allow your middle finger to press
into the indentation here. If you lift up your toes of the right foot,
you will feel the muscle below your middle finger tighten and you know you are
at the right spot. This is called "Tusanli" or Stomach 36. It's
a great point for calming a stomach ache or helping with digestion. It's
also helpful when your energy is low and can give you a nice boost.
Using your middle finger and apply gentle, steady
pressure while making little circles - in one direction, and then the next.
Keep this up for a minute or two. You use your right leg one session, and
then next time move to your left. The point is the same on both legs.
Remember that this is part of your Qigong practice... so stay mindful of
your diaphragmatic breathing, relaxed and conscious posture all while holding
an intention to open yourself to Qi flow. "See" your stomach
vibrant and healthy, expressing itself in perfect form and function.
I always incorporate TCM pressure points in every
class, typically woven into the Shaolin Self Massage that we give instruction
on in our "Qigong for Beginners" DVD. Don't
wait to use a powerful pressure point until you have a medical challenge - I
highly recommend that you use them as part of your personal preventative
healthcare strategy. Over the next few Breathe Deep eNewsletters I will
highlight a few that are very effective and easy to learn. Many of these
types of techniques are touched on in my Guided Meditations...
Francesco's new Guided Meditations
Have you checked out CommunityAwake.com
yet? It's a pretty interesting experiment in building an online community
and there are literally hundreds of people who have already signed up.
Francesco has the "Dreaming Awake" community there
too... and with your subscription you can get access to his guided
meditation audio recordings, the only place that they are available.
Thank you for your support. There are other communities there
too... and more to come. Enjoy and have fun meeting others who are
working hard to "stay awake" in this wonderful dreaming we call

This WujiTech online software environment I've
designed continues to evolve in a most amazing way and I wanted to keep those
of you who are interested in working in the area of community building, data
collecting/tracking, mentoring or coaching - whether it is with youth or adults
- abreast of our developments. The latest developments are in the area
of brainwave learning tools that we've been designing. Our first
WujiBrainwave apps for Apple and Windows computers AND the iPad are
now available!!! Click here to check them out
The core WujiDashboard software is what is behind the
breakthrough online environment for the WHOLE Kaua'i Public School System - 25
schools with over 10,000 students and over 900 teachers. We are pretty
proud of this and our vision to transform education is beginning to take hold
around the world. Thank you for your support and good energy! This
secure, online environment provides a personalized "dashboard" for
every member - uniquely different for teachers, students, administrators,
parents and community supporters. It manages communication and
collaboration, activities scheduling, participant communication,
administration, journaling, survey evaluation and assessments as well as complex
database management. The powerful Survey Builder and Tracking Survey components
are indispensable for bringing integrity to any program and helpful
in creating reports for grants and funding organizations. If you are
associated with a school that may be interested - or know of someone who is -
let us know and we will share more. We are looking for some people who are
interested in working in the education area to get this software implemented in
school systems around the world and it could generate some commission income
through your efforts.
Kahuna Valley Retreat on Kaua'i - Watsu,
energy healing, Qigong...
Kahuna Valley is our magical, 6-acre retreat on the
Garden Island of Kaua'i, Hawaii. Just 5 kilometers from the wettest spot
on the planet, this is a lush, Qi-filled healing space. I thank those of
you who come for a healing Watsu warm water therapy session or to just stop by
to say hello when you come to Kaua'i for a visit. For more info,
If you haven't visited the amazing website of the
non-profit Qigong Institute for a while, you may want to get a cup of nice
green tea and type in www.QigongInstitute.org As
Chairman of the organization, I have to say that I am very honored to have Tom
Rogers as President of the Qigong Institute. He has worked diligently to
bring the most comprehensive information about Qigong together in one website.
Our Qigong and Energy Medicine Database has well over 8,000 entries that
can be searched for free via keywords for topic areas relating to Qigong.
Thank you Tom for your good work... and Dr. Kenneth M. Sancier, our
founder, for his vision to bring a scientific perspective to Qigong
Tax Deductible Donations and Support
Thank you all who made their end-of-the-year donations
to Kahuna Valley. We are grateful for your financial support to help keep
our MentorOhana.com program for young teens going in Kapaa Middle
School. We've been working with over 200 students on a very exciting
program using the interactive WujiTech online software environment.
Our latest enhancement is incorporating a brainwave monitoring device that will
help youth enhance their ability to focus and to bring their emotions into
balance. The students use the software to monitor their growth in
many areas of their life and share important feelings and thoughts that teens
so need to get out. We need funding to help acquire enough brainwave monitors
so that there is one for every computer workstation at the school. If you
are feeling generous and would like to channel your taxes from the federal
government to a worthy cause, we would be most grateful to accept your
tax-deductible donation to Kahuna Valley. We are an IRS recognized tax-exempt
organization and any monies that you donate to us will not only help support
our work with at-risk youth here in Hawaii, but it will help you make a
statement by choosing to put your monies to a good cause instead of to the IRS
