Dear Friends,
Today our hearts are heavy as we mourn with the people of Israel over their most recent losses, a direct result of Thursday's terror attacks in Southern Israel. The carefully coordinated series of attacks in the Southern Negev, near the resort city of Eilat, have claimed 9 Israeli lives and left another 30 wounded, some critically. Sadly, it's also reported that 2 children, aged 4 and 6, are among the dead in what was an unprovoked, yet planned attempt to massacre and maim innocent people.
In retrospect, the primary goal of the 15-20 terrorists involved may have been to kidnap a soldier or civilian, and to bring him/her captive back to Gaza. It is widely believed that the terrorist cell members were from the Gaza Strip, but launched their attacks from the Egyptian side of the Sinai Peninsula's border with Israel.
Ironically, the attacks occurred in the Wilderness of Paran, an area familiar to Moses and the people he led out of bondage in Egypt some 3300 years ago. Then, as now, there were enemies trying to hinder Israel's date with destiny in the Promised Land. But they failed then as will all those who oppose God's plans and purposes for His Chosen Ones.
Let us remember that Israel is first of all God's Land and His gift to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 28:10-14). And it is this same God who has made it possible for the Jews, after centuries of wandering among the Gentile nations, to return to their ancient, biblical homeland. In time, He will judge those who murder the innocent children of Israel just as His judgment will fall on all those who are anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist - in essence, those who are angry and hateful toward Israel and the Jewish people without a just cause (Joel 3).
Let's remember too, that that Jewish people are not alone in their ongoing struggle to find peace and acceptance within the community of nations. God has called many Gentile voices that are willing to speak up for Israel's right to exist as a sovereign Jewish nation. We include some of them here:
Rev. John Tweedie Speaks to Millions Through the USA Radio Network
On August 17th, Rev. Dr. John Tweedie, Chairman for Christians for Israel, was interviewed for the popular radio show, "Daybreak USA." Hosted by Scott West, Daybreak USA is a LIVE, fast-paced morning show that airs nationwide on nearly 2500 stations in America. In addition, the show airs on the American Forces Network and XM Satellite Radio. During his interview, Rev. John had the opportunity to share about Israel's deep and critical significance today. He noted why Israel is a more important topic even than the American or European financial crises, precisely because Israel is the only nation God called into being in the first place. God is part of Israel's past and present just as He has plans for her immediate future. In addition, Rev. John had the opportunity to promote the importance of Christians for Israel Canada's 2 DVD series, Israel: A Journey Through Time and Israel: A Journey of Light. Listeners were encouraged to purchase these amazing DVD box sets as a way of deepening their understanding of Israel's significance as a sovereign nation under God, and of discovering why all of our futures depend upon what happens to Israel.
We invite you to listen to Rev. John's 8-minute interview by clicking here.
May we also ask you to agree with us in prayer that God's Word concerning Israel would spread like wildfire throughout the American continent in this urgent hour?

Zion Prayer Watch
It is the city of Jerusalem, (also called "Zion" in the Bible) that has the nations in a rage against Israel. The Palestinians want to claim Jerusalem as their capital. Yet Jerusalem is the only city on earth where the God of Israel placed His Name. And it is to this Holy City that the Jewish Messiah will one day return. In this latest episode of Zion Prayer Watch, Rev. Joe Campbell discusses the importance of Jerusalem and what the Bible has to say about the ongoing contention that surrounds it. We invite you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem with Rev. Joe, while viewing beautiful videography of the Land of Israel.

Heart to Heart
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of our beloved Receptionist, Colleen. We are sad to see Colleen go, but equally glad that she is moving because of her husband's acceptance of a job offer in another city, two hours from here. But it is better to let Colleen express her mixed feelings in her own gracious way, and to all of those Christians for Israel Canada supporters with whom she has communicated in one way or another over many years now:
Shalom, Shalom, Shalom!
