head in the sand like an ostrich

Uh-uh...not you!
That's why you're in this industry
You're working hard on your vision,
aren't you?
Tapping into the stuff that can help you
Learning from the best in the industry
whenever you can.
I know that desire...I have it, too.
But then something happened that fueled
my desire and it went from a flame to a
raging INFERNO!
Never will forget that night. It was when I realized
that my "part-time-on-the-side-so-I-have-extra-money"
network marketing company was my ticket OUT
I had done it right, too. Got a good education and
landed a "dream job" in the adult psychiatric unit
of a prestigious medical center.
I had to work the 3-11 shift, leaving for work when
my kids got home from school and not getting back
home til after they were already in bed.
But what's a divorced mother of 5 to do?
I had to support my babies, so my evenings were
spent talking to folks with mental illnesses.
That horrible...and yet blessed...night, I got a call
during my shift.
My 16 year old daughter, who had an after school
job at the mall, had collapsed!
Unable to walk and with a fever of 104, she was
rushed to the ER of the very hospital where I worked
Minutes later, the call came from the ER staff telling
me that I had to come down to sign papers so they
could find out what was wrong.
I told my supervisor what was going on as I headed
for the elevators and she snapped,
"You have FIVE MINUTES! Get those papers signed
and get back to the floor."
I couldn't believe my ears!
My baby was laying on a gurney in the ER, and she was
ORDERING ME TO COME BACK??????
Then she said that she would "let" me go back to the ER
to be with my daughter IF I managed to find another staff
member willing to come in on their night off to cover for me.
My "dream job," not to mention my previously good
relationship with my supervisor, were never the same.
Even though I eventually promoted to management, had my
own office, etc. that sense of being CHAINED never left me
I was subject to what THEY wanted and had to practically
BEG for time off.
Finally, in 2005, I left the job, the hospital, the private office,
the prestige...
AND I'VE NEVER LOOKED BACK!
Not gonna sugar coat it...it hasn't always been easy. Even
got scary for awhile when all my retirement funds were gone
I've had to work hard...and be willing to learn
But it was SO WORTH IT!
Cause today, I'm living the life I've always dreamed of!!
Being able to BE THERE for my family?
PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!
No more begging a supervisor to let me be a mom...
or a GRANDMA!!!
No worries about how some stranger is treating my elderly
mother, cause she's here WITH ME!
It's never been about fancy stuff for me. The money, trips
of the cruise we went on last month)
But what I've always been shooting for was being able to
have the time I wanted (and needed) with my family.
So I plugged into f.ree trainings...webinars and videos...that
would teach me what I needed to know about my company,
about the industry and about marketing in general
