How to Recognize Improvement

Person on a cliff reaching up.
"If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done." - Thomas Jefferson

Growing, whether in life or business, requires change. This change can sometimes feel unpleasant but it is important to keep your big vision in front of you. Today's article is about a sign I saw while out walking and the thoughts it inspired, so keep reading! My recommended resource is a personal development product line I love and use more than any other I have purchased; the tech tip is the first of two videos about WordPress plugins (you'll receive the second part next week.)

This past week I was thrilled to welcome two new clients to Step Into Amazing. I am excited about supporting them and helping grow their businesses. If you have been thinking about exploring how a virtual assistant can help YOUR business, don't delay! My rates are going up on November 1, so schedule an appointment with me right now to lock in the current rate. Send me a message at caroline@carolinerdonnelly.com

I welcome your feedback, please let me know what you like/don't like and want to see both here and on my site at www.carolinerdonnelly.com

 ArticleRecognize Improvement

Never neglect an opportunity for improvement.

I saw the above phrase on a sign the other day and it got me thinking...

If we shouldn't neglect improvement, we need to know how to recognize it.

What does improvement look like?

You may be missing opportunities because improvement comes in disguise.

It often looks scary and uncomfortable.

  • To improve your public speaking ability you MUST get up and speak.
  • To improve your marketing ability you MUST get your marketing out there.

Improvement is scary; it is uncomfortable. Improvement is being bold and taking action despite the fear and uncertainty.

Look at those uncomfortable situations and tasks and reframe them.

Ask yourself, "What will be the outcome if I do it?"

You may get that client or speaking gig. You may get a sale. You may move your business and life forward. You may lose some fears. At the very least, you will learn something.

What will be the outcome if you don't?

You miss the opportunity to improve, to grow and to generate income. You will stay where you are and I know that is not what you want.

Pushing out your comfort zones is a mandatory component of improvement.

How will you improve today?

PS. One of the biggest things preventing improvement is not getting the help you need in your business. Hiring a VA is scary and uncomfortable for many people. My background as a coach provides you with a unique opportunity: not only can I get those tasks done in your business that are necessary but don't directly generate revenue, I can also help and support you through the fears, doubts and uncertainties.

I've purchased a LOT of personal development products over the years but one I use almost every day is Brian Johnson's Philosophers Notes. I have them on MP3 and listen while I'm out walking.

Brian writes "Coles Notes" for personal growth, he summarizes the key messages from the best books and presents them in numerous versions including PDF and MP3 (you can also purchase physical copies.) One of the reasons I love this business is their generous pricing model: if you can't afford to pay full price you can choose a lower option or even request a scholarship.

Visit Philosophers Notes, download some free samples and discover this goodness for yourself.

ComputerTech Tip - WordPress

WordPress plugins are mini programs or add-ons that will increase the functionality of your blog. They are similar to apps you add to a phone, allowing it to do specific things, increase performance or enhance user experience. There are thousands of plugins available, both free and premium.

To install plugins, there are two methods: automatic and manual.

Automatic Installation

In your WordPress dashboard, follow these steps:
  1. Click plugins.
  2. Click Add New.
  3. Search for the plugin you want.
  4. Click Install Automatically.
  5. Click Activate Plugin.
  6. If required, configure the plugin.
