New Children Arrive at Ciudad!
|
After a more than five year wait, Ciudad de Ángeles is adding new children. The last children to arrive were Cristobal, Gustavo Angel, Adrian, and Jesus (Chuy) in July 2014.
DIF in Chetumal offered children to us in August and after numerous interviews and evaluations, we identified 6 children that were a good fit for us to serve. They arrived on campus on September 27.
There are two sibling groups of 3 each. In order to keep the siblings together in their new life at Ciudad, Casa 8 has been reopened.

Dayana (right) is 7 years old. She reads well and is surprisingly poised and self-confident.
Glendi (right) turned 16 this past June. She has never been in school and exhibits low self-esteem. She has been the de facto mother for her siblings.

The arrival of these children is the
culmination of an intensive process of review of Ciudad de Ángeles by DIF Chetumal. The primary goal of the process was to verify the we are in full compliance with all regulations and requirements.
As a result, we have received an initial letter of compliance from DIF Chetumal, which has opened the door for us to enter an agreement with DIF Morelos (Cuernavaca area) to receive children from them, as well. Following a follow up verification visit by DIF Chetumal, we also expect to receive an official certification of compliance, which would be valid throughout all of Mexico.
We give thanks to God for opening these doors, and to all supporters who have been praying on behalf of Ciudad de Ángeles.
