A blunt (very open) note about money, life & work

I didn't make it to the event. I kinda screwed up, and I don't even care. Right now I'm supposed to be in Vegas for the Collision Conference. Yes, it was a HUGE opportunity for me - one that I'm missing out on as we speak.

I decided to go to Niagara Falls instead. Crazy, right? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm actually very happy about the decision. I wrote about it in detail on my blog here:

I would love for you to read that, and leave a comment with your own thoughts. I'd like to hear what YOU think.

I think people like us that decide to go into business, that want more out of life, we really tend to push ourselves TOO hard sometimes. Or we can be too hard on ourselves for NOT pushing ourselves hard enough. Agree? I can certainly relate to both scenarios...

The Collision Conference is an awesome event, by the way. I shared details about it in that post I linked to above. I should be there right now, in heels and on the go. But instead I'm sitting on my back deck with my big happy great dane... sipping coffee in my pajamas all afternoon. :)

Totally off topic, but you know what's cool? I booked my flight to that event through Southwest Airlines. When I canceled my flight at the last minute (literally, that day)... they applied the funds to my account, and I have an entire year to use that money on another flight. Nice!

To be honest, I was willing to give up the $401 for that flight and just call it a loss. When I decided to go home instead of boarding that flight, I was *seriously* ready to just go HOME - right then, lol. Well, via a little detour to Niagara Falls anyway. ;-)

You can see my quick video clip of Niagara Falls in that post too:

Money and Time are interesting commodities. I mentioned in that post that I feel like "I won the time lottery" this week. :)

Sometimes time is MORE valuable than money. Sometimes the scale tips toward money instead. It's really all about BALANCE though, right?

On that note (money) let's talk about that for a sec, too...

I love to work, and I love the work that I do, and of course I enjoy the money I make doing it. I imagine that's obvious, but it seemed right to preface what I'm about to say -lol...

I see entirely too many people working entirely too hard.

I joke about it a lot. When someone brings up a great idea or a cool opp, my most common response is: "That sounds like too much work to me." :p At the event in Toronto, David & Paul were engrossed in a deep conversation and I interrupted them and asked what big thing they were planning.
"World Domination, of course!" they replied. :) My response? I said, "You guys can have it. That one's too much work for me. But I do want to be an affiliate!" (lol) :-)

As with most jokes, there's actually a lot of truth in that.

There is SO much more I could be doing in my life and business. There's tons more money I could be making, even. But I really, truly do NOT want to work that hard. I ENJOY my life - a lot - and I want to keep it that way.

Not to say I didn't work hard to achieve what I have, because I did, but there are ways to "work smart" too. Let's say you have two options. One takes a lot of time and makes a lot of money. One takes a lot less time but makes less money. That one also being less stressful, and easier to pull off.

I'd pick the second one every single time.

Lazy? No. I don't think anyone could call me that. Even though I do nap about 2 hours most afternoons. :) It's more about realizing that Time is just as valuable as Money. Or that "less stress" holds A LOT of value to me.

That, and I know that "follow through" is a tough one for me. So I go with the task or opportunity I'm more likely to actually complete. Because as you know... ideas don't pay the bills! It's the things you actually get DONE that matter.

Speaking of, I'm still working on wrapping up the new "Facebook Group Profits" report. The feedback has been GREAT! (Thank you!!) The topics I'm adding to the final version before it goes public are really cool. I'll be expanding A LOT on ways to use FB Groups to build your list (fast!), and ways to make money with groups (complete with tons of live examples, as usual).

Until I release it publicly for 39.95, you can still get it for only 9.99 here - which will include access to the updated version AND the upcoming live Q&A webinar too.

Creating products is one of those things I consider "too much work for me." LOL. This one is worth it though. It's GREAT information, and a strategy I'm having serious success with.

Another thing I'm testing out lately is Teespring, to create & sell customized T-shirts. That one is going REALLY well. I did a "quickie" campaign recently just to test it out... and just cashed in a $253 payout.

Here's the thing - yes, lower revenue, but it's MUCH less work! It's so fast to set up a campaign, so the money is easy. I just set up another one last night, with two more in the works.

If you get referred, you'll earn an extra $1 per shirt, up to $1,000 extra. Here's my referral link: http://teespring.com/invites/pn7mtm so you can earn that extra money. ;-) It's a fun way to monetize ANY niche.

We're discussing that on Facebook here if you want to join in.

I'm rambling, so I should close. I didn't mean to take up so much of your time. I really hope something in my note stood out for you though - something you can USE to make your life easier, less stressful, more profitable... or all three. :)

Best,
Lynn Terry

p.s. While I was in Toronto I got to hang out with Bob Jenkins (aka "Bob the Teacher). He works for LeadPages now, so we chatted about that some which was cool. I am LOVING the results I'm getting with that platform!!

I did a quick check this morning, and the List Building training session I did with them is still working. You can watch it here:

https://my.leadpages.net/wl/lynn-terry-replay/

It's free training, no opt-in or anything. The timer ran out, but the session still plays. :) It's GREAT tips & strategies, no matter what you use to build your list. Enjoy!

p.p.s. I really would LOVE to hear your comments on my update here: http://www.clicknewz.com/11665/live-life-on-your-terms/
