Getting over the hump, and into PROFIT online...

Published: Mon, 07/06/15

A lot of people start/stop/start/stop with their online business, and never make much progress. And they do that for a number of reasons. Some of which you may be able to relate to yourself...

One of the things I hear a lot is about "response". For example, with social media if you aren't getting any likes or comments or replies - it can be discouraging and make you just want to quit updating. The same goes for blogging. Why bother if no one is reading it? Or if you write a book or create a product and don't sell a single one, you might as well call it a failure and ditch it, right?

I'll tell you something that may surprise you...

I don't set out with the expectation that everything I do is going to be wildly successful. In fact, at least half the time it's not. I put out a product a few years ago that was a total flop, for example. Yes, I know the sound of "crickets" too - even after 18+ years in business.

Was that project a total waste of my time and energy? No. Definitely not. First I analyzed why it may have failed, and tested a few different things with it - so the lessons learned there were very valuable.

But even better than that, I have something awesome created that can easily be repurposed - so the time was definitely not wasted. Each chapter could easily be a blog post, or several, or a podcast episode, or the entire guide could be simplified into a checklist & worksheet, etc.

The point being... FIND the value in it, and figure out how to best put it in front of your market - in a way that WILL get a response.

I have the same experience with social media. Sometimes it seems like I'm only talking to myself. Some things seem to get totally ignored. And yes - it CAN be discouraging. I get that.

One simple shift I find incredibly helpful is this:

Instead of trying to figure out how to make money or how to get traffic, which can really make you pull your hair out some days (lol)... wake up every day with this thought instead:

How can I best serve my market today?

What can I do or say today to help my market see results?

It's such a simple shift, but it makes a HUGE difference. Not only in your frustration level, and in how much you ENJOY your business, but also in terms of results. You'll get WAY better results serving your market than you will trying to make money - and you'll make money in the process. :)

Here's the thing: If your audience is seeing results, or getting something valuable from listening to you, they'll stick around. As long as they are seeing results, they'll continue consuming products & services. So if you focus on helping your market get those results, your business will thrive!

But how?

How do you help them get results? How do you make money doing that? How do you monetize your passion? How do you figure out what your passion IS? How do you build an audience around it? How do you find the motivation to keep blogging, keep tweeting, etc when nobody is responding??

I can help you with that.

Obviously the answers are slightly different depending on your niche and business model. Which is why I run my Private Brainstorming Group where I can easily help people with their business, one on one. It's not your typical "coaching" or membership. I actually work online (unlike most "mentors") - in a real niche, with real people - and I've been doing it for over 18 years now. :)

Seriously - I challenge you to research most coaches, mentors, etc and see if they're actually successful at what they are trying to teach YOU to do.

Until midnight tonight (Monday at Midnight Eastern) you can get Lifetime Access to the group, and to my hands-on help and step-by-step courses, for a one-time payment. No membership dues or recurring payments - ever. I would LOVE to help you with YOUR business!

In closing, one more BIG tip...

You want to test different things to see what "sticks" with your market. Try different topics, angles, and of course different social media update types: text, link, image, video, polls, etc. Test sharing a picture/graphic with a link instead of just a link. Test adding text (a teaser or question) with links you post. Test humor vs emotional pull, etc. On your sales pages and with your products, test different headlines & titles. Test price points and special offers.

The point is: Never quit when something isn't a success. Figure out how to MAKE it a success! Failures are just part of the learning & testing process. They aren't even "failures" at all. They just tell you what doesn't work, so you can figure out what DOES. ;-)

p.s. From now on, don't stop. Don't hesitate. Don't second guess yourself. Just keep pushing forward, keep learning what "sticks" - and then do more of what works, and less of what doesn't. That's my own golden rule:

"Do more of what works, and less of what doesn't."

The only thing that gets NO results is doing NOTHING. So don't start/stop/start/stop. Start... and then just keep on going. Work through the "crickets", work through the "failures", and keep figuring things out as you go.

It's what I've done, and what I still do. :)

And when you're stuck? Reach out! Never give up without at least getting some feedback & help. Your lifestyle goals are worth it. I've achieved a pretty cool lifestyle myself, starting at "broke" (starting at "in the hole" actually). I worked HARD to make that happen - but I can definitely tell you from experience... that it was SO worth it!

Whether you decide to join my Private Brainstorming Group or not, I hope this note gave you at least one take-away that motivates or inspires you this week. I have more cool case studies, how-to's and cool tips to share with you, so stay tuned!
