Warning - (Read this and save yourself a lot of hassle)

There are a couple of things very few people will tell you when it comes to working online, but these points have been heavy on my mind lately because it keeps coming up over and over again in my circles.

I'm sharing these warnings with you today because I know it will really benefit you to know the truth - and to consider these things heavily as you move forward with your online business.

First, don't just "blindly take advice" which means doing something just because it was recommended or suggested - without really knowing why, or considering your objective.

This is easy to do, because you generally trust the source, and I've even done it myself in the past - which I mentioned in my post about The No Follow Link Attribute (a good read!).

Tip: Question everything. Do your research and due diligence. Don't do anything, buy anything, or install anything without knowing exactly what it does and why you need it - as well as the potential consequences...

If you're not sure - ask someone!

A good example: My post on 8 Reasons to STOP Using a URL Shortener or Link Cloaker - even if you see everyone else doing it and/or someone suggested you should...

Second - Be careful WHO you take advice from.

Here's a fun fact for you: Most of the courses, guides, advice, coaching offers, webinars, events, etc... are offered by people who are not even doing what they teach!

Ack. Sad but true...

Make sure the person you choose to learn from has actual experience (and success) at what they are teaching YOU. Otherwise it's just a case of "the blind leading the blind."

You'll find so much outdated material and misinformation about Online Business on the internet because many people are just repeating what they've heard from others - with no real personal experience at it themselves.

That's why there are so many outdated marketing strategies being taught (both online and offline), as I mentioned in this post:

Tip: Before you hire a coach, buy a program, or invest in anyone's teachings - research them, ask for recommendations, and make sure they are actively working hands-on at what they are teaching (meaning now, not 3 or 5 or 10 years ago).

And last but not least, it's not always about the tool or the "guru" or the well-meaning friend or blogger. Also hold yourself accountable. Meaning: don't buy things you don't need! I have a personal rule which is:

"Never buy, download, read (etc) anything I don't need right now, to accomplish what I'm working on right now." Period.

If you don't need it YET, don't buy it NOW.

Trust me, there will always be a solution or guide available when you are ready for it. Stay focused on your current objective, and focus all of your time and energy on that one step until you're ready to move to the next.

If you heed these warnings and take full control of (and personal responsibility for) your business and your choices/decisions, you'll have a much better experience as you build your online business...

Best,
Lynn Terry
