A bit of a rant & ramble - but worth reading ;-)

I had a bit of a rant yesterday, over something that totally discouraged me. You see something in your niche (or both of them, in my case) that just really floors you - and makes you question your entire business model.

If you've been in business online for any amount of time, I'm sure you can relate. I don't usually "air my rants" publicly, but this one kinda flew right out there. :P

Sidebar - before I forget - that Quick Start Training I told you about yesterday, the special offer ends on it in a few hours (midnight tonight). If you missed my note, you can read it here.

Sorry for the interrupt. I hate for you to miss out on that, since I'm doing it myself and you'll be hearing me talk about it. Watch for my case study! ;-)

Anyway, I shared my (very candid) thoughts on Facebook:

But the REAL discussion is happening in a more private place, inside my Weekly Marketing Challenge group. Here's the link:

"Every problem presents an opportunity."

Whatever the problem or issue that pops up, once your initial response subsides, your next step should be to consider how you can turn that problem... into an OPPORTUNITY.

For me, that may mean some BIG changes.

I'm doing some serious brainstorming this weekend. Actually, I'm letting the thoughts "brew" while I catch up on email and do some writing work - but I feel some great ideas coming together as I go. If you have thoughts on the topic to share, feel free to join us at one of the two discussions above. Or just hit reply if you prefer email. I'm in my inbox today anyway. :)

One thing I do know is that I'll be raising my rates - dramatically. I mentioned that recently on my blog (link below), but I've decided the dues will going up more than I originally planned. How much? I'll keep you posted. I'm still working out the details...

In the past I've offered to do Private Brainstorming Hour sessions for $200 off my public rate, and I've offered 90 minutes for $99 instead of $299 for an hour. That's selling myself WAY too cheap. Especially considering I've been working online (successfully) for almost 19 years - and actually DO what I mentor others to achieve.

* I still have the discount link for that if you're interested, while I work on restructuring. I really would love to help as many people as I can achieve the same success online that I have myself.

How many coaches, consultants or mentors have you run into online... that have ZERO experience (or um, *success*) doing what they claim to be able to teach you? Have you ever really dug into someone's background before considering their coaching or their product?

A lot of the value is just perceived, and much of that perception is based on price. If it costs an arm and a leg, it must be worth two brains - right? Not always. :) Not usually, even.

Guess which one of these shirts I should be wearing today:

#2 lol... :-9

The fact is, I can actually AFFORD to help other people... cheap. Do you know why? Because I earn my living DOING what I teach, instead of teaching it being my only source of income. Which is really backwards in my opinion. I see it A LOT though.

Unfortunately, trying to lower the bar and make it easier and more affordable for people to get REAL help isn't doing anyone any favors - which was my intention, of course. Instead, it's screwing up the perceived value. I get that.

I'm rambling. Apologies! It's a holiday weekend I realize. And on that note, I'm wrapping up a blog post on that topic that I think you'll really enjoy. :) It's quite blunt. It's not about margaritas on the beach. It's about reality...

Best,

p.s. The biggest thing I want to learn from Ron in his Quick Start Training is how he does his targeting & conversions, to get his ads so CHEAP - because he's a master at that... and I'm losing money every single time I try it. :P No more!! Darn it... lol

Even "experts" have to learn from others. I don't claim to know everything there is to know about every platform online - even though I've been working here for ages. I focus on a purely organic (FREE) marketing strategy, so I've been out of the loop on paid advertising since "The Google Cash Days" more than a decade ago. My strategies work, and they work well (!), but I love learning new ways to earn more - in less time. :) *cheers*
