Connections Grow Your Business! 3 Tips From An Introvert...

Published: Mon, 03/16/15

Your connections are PURE GOLD. I'm talking about professional connections, connecting with other bloggers or Market Leaders in your niche ,etc. You want to get out there and build those relationships. Turn them into friendships, even. Reach out. Connect. See how you can serve others, and do it! ... then continue to nurture those relationships long-term.

Confession: As an introvert, I have to make a (disciplined) deliberate point of connecting, and REconnecting even. Meaning: touching base, following up, etc. It's SO worth it, though.

I thought I'd share a few of my simple tips with you...

1. On Twitter, create a Twitter List of those people you know you want in your "inner circle" (no matter how long it takes!). That way you can easily check their updates for things to share & respond to. This puts you in front of them, and helps you get on their radar if you're not already.

2. On Facebook, go to their Profile or Page and click "Get Notifications". That way you'll see every single one of their updates. Then you can respond quickly, participate in the discussion - or share something cool of theirs on your own page or profile (which they'll see!).

3. Set up a list in Evernote (or whatever you use) and create a wishlist of ideal connections. I have a Time Block set up in my Task List to check that list and pick a few people to go hunt down and touch base with - even if it's just a comment or a quick share.

Sometimes I'll send a personal message if it's someone I want to brainstorm something cool with. Tiffany Rae Lambert is on MY "wishlist" (cool people I like), so I recently sent her a quick message about doing something cool together. She replied and now we're going to brainstorm fun ways to joint venture!

This does NOT come natural for me. I could sit in a corner and do my thing in a vacuum and be totally fine, lol. That's why I wanted to share my "strategies" with you. It's something I have to really discipline myself to do, and set aside the time to DO it. Because it's THAT important to my business.

It's POWERFUL... and so worth it.

Of course, you want to make your connections COUNT. It really all boils down to leverage. What you have to offer, what they have to offer, how you can work together for mutual benefit, etc...
