Social Media Tips: Traffic, Sales & Subscribers

Published: Wed, 03/23/16

Social Media can be a total Time Suck, so you want to have a very clear objective. I recommend you stop "doing social media" and instead focus on smart Social Marketing. ;-)

Speaking of "smart" I realized today that I've been doing something DUMB (lol), so I'm making a change. It's one you can duplicate for quick results yourself, so I stopped studying/implementing to send you this note and share what I'm doing today.

I should probably blog this (and I will) but I wanted to send it to you first.

As you know I just signed up for Snapchat, which is just one of many live video platforms for livestreaming. I like this platform for all the cool features, and the fact that you can then download your "snap" (quick video) - which means you can repurpose it across other social platforms, like: Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc. And of course once it's on YouTube you can even embed it into your blog. Which means there is TONS of potential!

What I am currently doing with my "photo stream" is going to transfer VERY well into a live video stream. :) I'm super excited about taking my proven Instagram and Facebook strategies to video!

I'm no stranger to live video, by the way. I used uStream years ago (with frustrating results), and I was even streaming live video across the waves back in the late 90's - which required A LOT more hardware and technical know-how, lol. It was clumsy back then, but super cool.

This time around I am studying Live Video Revolution to cut my learning curve on all the new livestreaming platforms, because I just don't have the time or patience to "wing it" and learn as I go - and screw it up trying to figure it all out like I did with uStream. :p lol...

If you want to check out Live Video Revolution, here is the link + the exclusive coupon code I secured for you:

Check Out Live Video Revolution -aff

While you're on that page checking it out, wait until the popup shows up and then be sure to grab the FREE snapchat training from that box. Even if you don't *think* you'd use Snapchat - check it out anyway. ;-) You might as well get it while it's free!

You'll see on that page that one of the bonuses is "Authority Re-Engineered." That's the video training I was watching when I stopped to write you this note. It takes you from ground zero (nothing) to being able to capture leads from your videos - right out of the gate - without expensive software or setup. It's good - very step by step.

This is where I realized my "social media screw-up". :)

I actually have people ASKING me (almost daily) to add them to my email list. Why would they do that? Because the majority of my traffic is mobile, thanks to my awesome organic social marketing strategy - and my email sign up form is harder for them to find! Duh :p

You probably know I go by @lowcarbtraveler for my TravelingLowCarb.com niche site.

I was smart from the start and registered LowCarbTraveler.com TOO and redirected that to my website - to avoid any confusion, to make me easy to find, and to make sure no one leveraged my username.

(Do that with your own username if you haven't already!)

So today, while watching the LVR bonus training, I had the brilliant idea to use LowCarbTraveler.com for a mobile friendly landing page - to encourage my social followers to sign up for my mailing list. :)

It's a MUCH smarter use of that domain name!

Catering to your mobile & social audience is extremely important right now, from how you format your emails to how you collect email subscribers - and even your affiliate ads and promotions. Everything needs to be mobile friendly at this point considering the percentage of people accessing the web from a mobile or tablet.

This leads into how I plan to monetize live video streaming, of course. In addition to direct promotions, which I already do, building my list (which is where the long-term profit is!) will be a key objective to my livestreaming strategy.

If you've read this far, you're SMART :) so I'll give you some more tips & insight while we're here...

People say Facebook Pages are dead and that engagement is tough now. Those people obviously aren't watching MY Facebook Page - because it's totally hopping. ;-) So much so that I have a hard time keeping up with all the interaction there sometimes! That's a good problem to have. :) Facebook is one of my TOP converting channels, currently competing only with email.

If you're struggling with your own Facebook Page, here's a checklist I gave out in my Social Marketing Results course. You can have it free:

Don't buy Social Marketing Results from the link in that checklist, by the way. You can get free access to the entire course inside my Private Brainstorming Group. Join us here if you haven't already: http://www.clicknewz.com/hands-on-help/

Back to my strategy, I mentioned I do direct product promotions on social media. Here's a recent example for you on my Facebook Page. It's a dress I bought that creates an "optical illusion" - making you look thinner and curvier. My low carb audience loves tips on "how to dress thinner" and they also love when I show off my low carb success. :) It motivates and inspires them!

If you check out that Facebook update and read through the comments, you'll notice that 1) I linked to the dress I'm wearing (via my affiliate link) and that 2) my audience asked a lot of questions about the product - which I answered with affiliate links.

I host what I call "product discussions" frequently across my social channels, which is how I'm getting direct conversions from my social marketing. My audience LOVES discussing cool products! They love it because they have come to expect it from me. ;-) I highly recommend you train your audience to "talk products" with you too!

Instagram is a little tougher because you can't post live links in your updates. So what I do is "keep the story going" through frequent photo updates, then give them the links. Here's a live example, related to the one above: https://www.instagram.com/p/BDJ2FCVoCLh/?taken-by=lowcarbtraveler I just did a screenshot of an update on my Facebook Page and said "I put them on my Facebook page for you at Facebook.com/lowcarbtraveler". :)

Is that working for me? YES!

Just look at the "thank you's" in the comments. :)

To give you another live example, I share my healthy food photos with them all day every day. Then when I publish my food diary on my website, I screenshot the mobile version of that post (because they are mobile!) and share it as an update: https://www.instagram.com/p/BDD7ZDTICF8/?taken-by=lowcarbtraveler Smart, hey? :)

To recap, or to give you the short version, what I do is educate and motivate and inspire my audience consistently through frequent updates. I include links where relevant, but I always follow up with "where to get more information" too.

I get tons of questions across social media about my meal plans and tracking, or how I'm losing weight so fast, and I always end my answer with: "You can subscribe by email at TravelingLowCarb.com and get my Daily Food Diaries sent straight to your inbox - for free. :)"

That works like a charm!

TIP: If you're responding while mobile, like on Instagram or while you're traveling or standing in line somewhere, you can set up "shortcuts" on your phone. Taking the example call-to-action above that I use, I set up a shortcut on my phone so that when I type in "CTA" on my phone - it populates the field with all of that text. A cool little tip if you find you're typing out the same response a lot like I am!

Of course, like I said earlier... I haven't made it easy for my mobile audience to subscribe by email (duh!) so I'm creating a nice little mobile friendly landing page for them now. I should get back to that actually...

I hope you have picked up at least ONE nugget here that you can implement immediately. This note turned out longer, and took me longer to write, than I intended. I'm off to finish what I was working on, because tomorrow I'm going to start doing my first "snaps" (short videos) on Snapchat. :) My username there is "lowcarbtraveler" if you want to follow along.
