Can we talk about the money you're NOT making?

If you don't do anything else smart today, read this at least. It's a bit of a ramble I admit, but read my note - and see if it doesn't spark some sense for you!

Is it possible you're doing all the wrong things, and that's why you're not seeing the results you want online? Like tinkering with your wordpress theme for example - it doesn't matter (mine is ugly). Or spending forever creating an opt-in incentive and landing page and designing a lead magnet yada yada yada. A waste really - I don't have any of that, and have over 26,000 niche subscribers that LOVE getting my emails.

I'm talking about my low carb blog in those examples. I haven't really been working in the "internet marketing space" that much lately. That's because I have more fun DOING "internet marketing" than teaching it. ;)

I get kinda frustrated and confused when I see other people feeling frustrated and confused about making money online, because it's SO flipping easy!

I'm just "writing out loud here" so I apologize for rambling or being wordy or not really "crafting some brilliant marketing email" to you. I really just want to TALK ABOUT IT if that's okay - which means... it would be cool if you respond. Otherwise I'm talking to myself. :p lol

The only thing you really need is to have something people want.

This is the part that stumps a lot of people. Which stumps ME, because I keep giving you free worksheets, live examples, free downloads - everything I can think of to help you nail down what you have and how to get it to the people that want it.

Anyway... I don't have a product. It's not like I'm sitting here writing books, creating products, or crafting up goods in my licensed kitchen to package and ship & sell. Nope - but my breakfast still made money today.

So what do I have that people want? I figure out what they want and I find it for them. Or I have: IDEAS - plus tips, motivation, inspiration. But mostly I just find what they want and tell them where they can get it. That's called affiliate marketing. Pretty simple, hey? ;-)

And by the way, if you think affiliate marketing isn't relevant to your business or to your business model - you're wrong. I've been doing affiliate marketing since way before it was even called that. Like back in the 90's with my electronics shop (my first business) and also with my web development company - a service based business (my second business), etc. Trust me, it's a GREAT revenue source for ANY business owner.

I did detailed training on exactly HOW I do that - but are you DOING that? Are you implementing what you've learned? And if so, and you still aren't seeing the results you want... why not? (That was a serious question.)

Why don't I care about my wordpress theme, or how my site looks? I do actually. It's really ugly, and I do need to fix that. It's on my list. But the fact is... most people don't even see how ugly it is. The majority of my readers see my content on the mobile version of my site, or in their inbox - because I use a Blog Broadcast to send my content to them by email.

Plus I just prefer to create content that makes sales. But I *will* get around to the aesthetics - eventually. :)

Which brings me to how I built a huge responsive niche list without "trying" (meaning: without creating a product or a lead magnet or a widgety thing or whatever). I built my list on content alone. People subscribe because they WANT my email. Which is the BEST kind of email list to have! A bribe is just that: a bribe. And if your email content sucks, your list building efforts are pretty much a waste anyway.

(I keep having to stop writing this to "make sales" lol. I got an email from a brand that was on the fence about working with me for example - and stopped to go close that sale. Then a notification from Instagram from someone that's on the fence about buying a product I use and love - closed multiple sales there, etc.)

This ^ is what I do. I make money online. I even "make money in my sleep" and "make money from the beach" like they say in those big red gaudy headlines on sales letters for products you really don't need. :p What you NEED is to just "do the stuff." That's it!

I'm not saying you don't need "products" because there's plenty of stuff I invest in. Notice I said "invest" - that's different than buying something or spending money, because that would mean: an expense. An investment is made with an expectation of a return, and my expectation is always a FAST return. ;) Meaning: use what you got to make more - a LOT more.

This is just common sense stuff. Again, not some brilliant marketing email designed to target your emotions or desires, or trigger your buy finger. I'm not trying to sell you anything, except to sell you on the idea of getting off your a** and making something happen!

And honestly, I'm talking to myself a bit here too (as usual), because I was just sitting here brainstorming this morning about how much more I could be doing, making, fixing, accomplishing, etc - and why I'm not, and how to make that happen, etc etc etc...

Which is what made me think of you. :)

We're not that much different. Except that I'm in my 21st year of business, a successful entrepreneur, haven't had a "real job" since 1996 (or maybe it was early '97), and ALL of my income is a direct result of my online business. Which is how I raised two children completely on my own, and put one in business and one in college (they're turning 21 and 26 soon!). 

My point...

I'm thinking that I bet you wish I would make a point, and also thinking: I think I already did. :)

You're either doing the WRONG things, or just NOT doing enough (or any) of the RIGHT things. Right? That was my point - just to encourage you to consider what you are and aren't doing, and why you aren't making the money online you easily COULD be. That's all.

What do I need to do to help you? I'm willing... seriously, please just let me know. Unless you're just a spectator and not really interested in actually running a successful online business. And if that's the case, that's totally okay. I hope you at least enjoyed something here since you read this far. ;) 

I could tell you exactly what I'm doing, how I'm doing it, and why it works so well - but I think I've already done that. I also offered to do that FOR you - to analyze what you're doing, how you're doing it, and how it could work better. I've already shared/offered/shown everything I think.

As for how I'm building my niche list, it's simple: I'm letting the content sell itself. And no, I'm not doing some weird trick like content curation or content spinning or whatever. I'm just (what I said above:) giving my readers what they want and need.

p.s. Don't think you have to do everything perfect. I don't do everything right. In fact, this email could have been 10 very well written blog posts... but I'm short on time, so I just sat down and wrote to you - without overthinking it, or worrying about the medium or the format or the whatever. 

I can always go back and repurpose this email into those 10 perfectly formatted blog posts with a brillitant call to action, or flesh it out into a great info product and add some detailed how-to and put it on JVZoo and sell it, or create an awesome landing page with a sweet lead magnet and buy cheap Facebook Ads to promote it.

Yeah - I can do that later, and I probably will. But right now "getting it done" is more important than "getting it right" - because I had something to share with you...
