Navy Seal Creed
This post is not to imply that basketball is anything like serving in any
branch of the military. It is to offer some lessons that we can all apply
in our lives and to honor everyone who has given his or her life in
military service to our nation.

Summer Shooting and Toughness Drill
I like to include some toughness drills in our summer skills
workouts. Here is a drill that requires players to make shots
prior to moving on in the drill:

Posting a Perimeter
Here is a follow up idea to the play I sent out yesterday. Instead
of posting a post player, this play give you an opportunity to
post a perimeter and then get a double screen for that player
coming from the low block.

1-4 Play to Feed the Post
This play is a way to post, from a 1-4 high set, a player by cutting
him backdoor first and forcing the defense to get on the wrong side
of where the feed is coming from.

If you play run and jump, or are considering it, consider putting in
as a part of your shell drill sequence. The link is to a short video
showing coach Doug Bruno doing just that.

Making the Most of the Summer
Here is a handout that we have given out at our organizational
meeting for our summer program. It is a way to draw attention
to the value of the time we have each day.
It certainly is applicable any time of year, but we have chosen
to use it in the summer since many student/athletes have
less structure to their days with school being […]

Favorite Perimter Development Drill
Yes, I have sent this out previously. I picked it up at a coaching
clinic from Coach Cliff Hawkins. The page has both a video and
a written explanation. I didn't do a very good job in making the
video. It only shows one round of the drill. When you run the
drill, make sure that your players shoot from all of the floor.

Summer Youth Camp Drill
Here is an idea for a shooting drill that I have used with our varsity
players and have also found that it works well in a gym full of
young players in a youth clinic with not enough baskets or
basketballs.
